I have had MTW for about 3 months, and i got VI for xmas. WOW I have played as the irish, picts, and vikings. I am currently playing as the vikings. this game is awesome, all of the factions, and soldiers i have always wanted and missed in MTW are in this game i had ot post and describe this battle i fought.
I was waging war on the saxons, attacking from many fronts. From Ireland, from northern briton and from the east.
When the battle prep screen came up, I noticed they moved in a large force, one i saw massing near my borders, but i hoped it was defence becuase there were no men to spare. In the beginning They had some 6 thousand men. Armoredspearmen, Fyrdmen, peasents, saxon huscarles, archers, etc. I had 366, made up of fully upgraded Joms Vikings, and huscarles, etc. I only fought beacuse i knew one i couldnt afford to lose this place off arrgession, this was a win all lose all move, foolish, but i did have the best men possible. Thats the second reason i didnt abandon the province, that and most were battle hardened high valor men. I filled my men in a line of battle formation, waited, then charged. I fought through waves and waved of reinfocements. Finally i lined my men up for what i thought had to be my last charge. I had 40-50 men, all totally exhuasted. I have screen shots of this, but i have to download infranview before i can post them I think four waves of 10-12 units charged over the hill at my men, and they fought and fought, each time i though it would end, i killed all the 250+ prisoners i had taken. Each time my men pushed right through the armoured spearmen, and frymen, while getting peppered with 2 units of archer fire. at times they wrere surropuned, fighting in a square shape. Eventually, i sat for a few seconds, and nothing happened, and i out the men in loose formation. Still nothing, i then ran down the archers, and the one frymen still hiding in the trees. here is the final count of the most awesome victory every
