    Question

I could use some help with modding S:TW. I know that probably nobody does this anymore, but I am just looking around how much you can mod STW. It looks like that you can make a new campmap, but the only piece of the puzzle that I didn't found yet are the campmap coords. Any help is appreciated, but I really like to know the following:

    1. Where are the campmap coords located for positioning the strategic pieces on the campmap for STW?
In MTW this is placed in the campaign file. But I can't see anything related to coordinates in STW. I did find japmap_startpos.dat which makes me believe that in this file are the coordinates located. And that leads to my next question:

    2. With which program can you open .DAT?
And do you know any share/freeware programs to open and edit a .dat file?

    Thanks, Duke John

    Question

Ok, I now know that the .DAT file extension is not exclusive to a single program. Lots of companies use different programs to create DAT files.

My question to any CA employee: could you give us the tool, or provide information about the tool, to edit the DAT files used for STW?

I really like to mod STW since it is perfect for a Wars of the Roses mod. Seasons make the 30 year during war long enough, the Emperor can be edited into the Parliament, and it's just more atmospheric.

    Thanks, Duke John

With the .dat file thing, I think your gonna' have to get a decompiler. I'm not sure though, since I've never tried modding the game save for changing music. You could try searching google for dat decompilers or something.
