problems/defragmenting hard drive?

i have multiple installed MTW/VI three times but when i come to defragment my hard drive it can,t acesses part of the hard drive and i get ID NO:DEFRAG 006.
yet when i run maintaince wizard disk cleanup/disk scan there are no problems with hard drive. but says to do advanced disk scan.? will i need to do an advanced hard drive scan[taking hours] or has/does anybody know what the problem is/could be? cheers

I would suggest you to go to www.technet.com and search for DEFRAG ERROR. There are a few KB articles about different problems with defragmentation. Try to find solution for you problem.

Are you sure the error code is 006 and not 0026 ?
