Thread: MTW runs like crap on my PC

    Unhappy

For some reason MTW and VI is barely playable on my system which ran even the largest battles in Shogun very well.

    Here are my specs:
    Pentium 4 1.5ghz
    384mb PC-600 RDRAM
    GeForce 3 Ti200 128mb
    Turtle Beach Santa Cruz
    WinXP Pro SP1
    DirectX 9.0b

I tried fiddling with the agp settings and the hardware mixing option in the game but the only battles I can play are the ones with really small numbers of troops and even those seem to pause every few seconds. The Battle of Stirling for example, is unbearably slow. Shouldn't my system be able to play it nicely? I mean supposedly you only need a Pentium II 350mhz with 128mb RAM. Or is it because my sound card is not built for DirectX 9? That's the only other thing I can think of.

    Thanks in advance

Sound is a b...h for performance. There are special settings I don't remember(too long since last install), but definitively check the tech forum. Lowering PCI memory helps a lot, too.

The Ti200 sounds very, very slow.

you may try to lower sound quality and uncheck hardward mix.

Make sure your PC free of virus

I highly suggest you go into your advanced display properites for the Ti-200 and check that both ansiotropic filtering and antialiasing are off. Those two options provide almost no noticable increase in image quality for medievl, but the effect of framerate is apocalyptic. I know this from experience, I've got a ti-200 too, and couldn't figure out why I was getting such lousy framerates when I first installed.

My old pc was an Athlon 1200 Mhz with a GF3 ti 200 and it worked fine although playing custom 4v4 battles could be slow at start.

Either its some advanced stuff antialiasing/anisotropic filtering or just the good old PCI texture memory.

The default settings with PCI memory on my newer pc(with GF4 card) made MTW one huge lag experience in even small battles. If you reduce it to minimum it should cut the lag.
