Crash to desktop

Im playing hard as the byz. i havnt had any trouble so far.

the year is 1231. i just beaten the hord both in armenien and kazar. took me 2+4 hours to fight them out. i had big succes in both battles.

my economic sucks, i have a big dept 125 000 florins, but i now have an income on 10 000 florins.

i dont train any units, i dont build anything and i dont have anything in queue.

The problem is that i crash to desktop now everytime i hit esc. i need help with this. this campain is the most fun i played this far. i just have 1 stack units in every province i need to defend, and only one unit in my rest provinces. the frensh, novgorod polen and hungary lauch crusades and/or large armys on my bordors, i havnt had this much fun with the game since i got it. I dont just want to throw this away, is there some way around the CTD other then to play the game till its finished, wich could take days?

Barricade your door, bring food supplies and play 'till you (or the poles) drop

More seriously, try using the quicksave (Ctrl-S I believe) to save without pressing Esc.

Hi someone, just a hunch but if you are crashing to desktop every time you hit escape, I would think its a graphics driver issue, i.e. when you are hitting escape, the display tries to change to a different diplay mode, possibly different resolution/refresh rate/3d, non 3d etc..
I'd make sure you have a nice up to date set of graphics drivers for your card installed and hopefully it will stop happening.

I crash to desktop everytime i hit esc but only after castle sieges(after normal battle is ok).
I use latest patch ,battle resolution 1600x1200, map resolution 1280x1024.
Any tips?

pressing esc before 1231 was no problem, i didnt get it till after the hord came.

i had ctd.s before but after playing couple of years ive been able to hit esc again, but not this time.

im playing and always playing on res. 800x600
