Thread: Heir Problems....

My Turkish campaign has hit a major roadblock. My Turkish kings have been rather inept commanders so I have kept them off of the battlefield and also out of harms way.

The problem is when my last king died of old age, the new king inherited the throne, and promptly had one son. At present, the sole son is 14 and the following turn the king is going to die leaving me without an heir to claim the throne

I have never had a king or prince die in battle, yet my faction is faced without any heir to the throne. Does anyone have any advice on how to prolong the kings life?

I have two saved games, one where the son is 7 and the other where the son is 14. One or two years will be enough for me to salvage this game.

    Thanks in advance

    Welcome to the org sleezly

Which version are you playing ?

if its VI unpatched then you have the 56 year bug..kings die of that age so you cant do anything..if its so better get it patched.

Yeah your problem is the 56 year bug kings die when reaching 56, the patch will fix that though.

Im not sure if you can continue with that save though after getting it patched..never tryed that myself

When a fox kills your chickens, do you kill the pigs for seeing what happened? No you go out and hunt the fox.

Thanks for the help guys. I applied the patch, loaded the saved game, and the king lived an extra few years giving the heir time to mature.

    Welcome to the org, Sleezly

Your problem is a well known frustration of MTW-players. Patching the game is probably the best option but you could also use a cheat: type .unfreeze. (including the dots) at the campaign map and then a heir will be born when you hit ‘end turn’. Of course, you need to do this when your king is forty (or thirty nine?), or else you heir will come of age to late. This is a tactic used in Play-By-E-mail campaigns to make sure the game doesn't bog down due to impotent kings. Yes, it is cheating, but it is so frustrating to lose a game just because your king doesn't like women.
