    Question

In Textures/men/actionsdiddy I found an entry for KnightsCalatravo and in Loc/english/descriptions I found a Description for a unit called the Sword Brethren.
Does anyone know what these are? I thought maybe the developers were toying with the idea of keeping them then decided not to and then forgot about those two?
They actually sounded like interesting units

They're both holy orders of knights, the Sword Brethren were butchered in lithuania and the few survivors were merged with the Teutonic knights so it would of been pointless to use them and i'm not sure why the knights of Calatravo weren't used.

Oh, so the Sword Brethren were the members of the Eastern Order which was defeated by Alexander Nevsky on the Peipous lake? Cool, didn't know that

Thanks for the replies and welcome(was still at work so couldnt reply for hours). Useful information Stratagos Desaix where do you get the info from? It would be useful to know because it gives me ideas for mods and at the same time being realistic.

And the order of Calatrava is a spanish order. Guess there can be one order per faction so de devs chose the Teutons and Santiagos.

lancer63: I suppose I could edit the Calatravo Knights to become the Aroganeses crusaders as currently they use the same Santiago Knights as the Spanish. Is that realistic though?

I think that's an excellent idea Lord Guilt. At least they are in the region. But I don't doubt some Cataluñan player might object on nationalistic grounds.

Same line of tought could be applied to the sword bethren for the Polish faction.

BTW: It is the order of Calatrava, not Calatravo. Sorry for the pedantic note.

The Polish shouldn't really have any military orders IMHO they probably spent more time fighting against them than with them and the Sword Brethren were created (and destroyed) in Livonia and rarely came into contact with the Polish if a faction should have them i'd say Denmark as the Scandanavian's had been crusading there longer than the Germans. For a history of the military orders in general i'd read The monks of war by Desmond Seward, for the Templars anything by Malcolm Barber, its harder to find good books on the Teutonic order but The Teutonic knights by William Urban is quite good and in all honesty I haven't really read much on the Spanish or Portugese orders so I can't help you there.Hope that helps

I have modded in the Sword Brethren, there is even a description already set for it on default. The Calatrava was a Knight Order, but not very large. Calatrava This is a good site with many knight orders.

Indeed, a very informative site Lehesu. Besides the orders I liked the Nobility section.

Would anybody be able to post or send me the information I need so that I can mod them in. I'm seemingly unable to find any mention of them in my folders and want to include them in my games. Also can i have the details for the knights too.
