Thread: The Danes

All through the campaign the Danes have just sat in Denmark , accepting treaties and proposals but not building any units or ships . Now they want Sweden and have sent 20+ royal knights in . Impecable timing with the Golden horde knocking at the door . Distractions , who needs them ?

Love those potent Danish kings and their fertile wives.

Long, dark, cold winter nights, you know. More royal princes than the Danish economy can afford.

It's a problem every game, even if you play the Danes.

The Sicelians did this in my game. It's the first time I've seen them last so long but they just sat there, somehow got Greece and nearly all of Italy. Just sat quietly then doing nothing, warring with noone. Hundred years pass, their silent. I move through constantinople, pushing the turks out, they just sit. 50 years later, out of nowhere they decide to invade 3 provinces of mine and begin open war on my ships.....apparently I did something wrong.
The art of war is simple enough. Find out where your enemy is. Get at him as soon as you can. Strike him as hard as you can, and keep moving.

in one of my games, the Sicilians conquer the Byzantines, getting southern Italy, Greece and shared turkey with the turks, and all those little islands between Greece and Egypt.

also in another games, when i was invading the Germans, the Danes invaded with me and took 3 northern provinces.

I'm having a nasty experience with the French and the English in my recent early campaign as the Germans.

First, they were fighting each other; the French swept out the English. I made a long lasting alliance with them. Then the English reappeared and took back Mercia, Northumbria and Wessex. Meanwhile, the French broke the alliance and attacked my Friesland and Loraine. They paid it as Flandres, Anjou, Isle de France and Champaigne.

I demanded ceasefire, gave the French king a 17 yo and reconcentrated on building up and getting ready for the Mongols, who would appear in 80 years. I also allied with the English, now allied with their mutual foe.

I must have neglected reinforcing my Western provinces... The English hit two fronts at once, paying it with Northumbria and a few ships. Although I was the winner, the French, Poles, Byzos and Almos all broke alliances with me. Now I'm fighting the Poles in two fronts and being threatened by the Byzos.

Time to earn some dread points and scant mercy virtues.

The Danes did this in my game too Well it was a bit different. I had easily 40,000 florins, with a good 3-4k florin+ income. The Danes took out my fleet of ships almost completely, including all the COGS I had I'm currently at around a negative 8k deficit. I have no choice but to invade wherever I can. Its getting difficult. Don't worry, if I don't do well, I'll replay an earlier version, and utterly slaughter anyone who even looks at me wrong.

It seems that the Danes do either thing. For 90% of my games they just sit in Denmark not building anything more than offsprings ;) But sometimes they really go berserk taking Scandinavia, invading Germany and the Brittish Isles and are a constant threat in the Baltic region and THAT is the way I like them. I only whish they would behave like that more often.

Gealic Cowboy ; Those emoticons you used really sum up what mayo need this year I havn't been to the stadium since the refurbishment , though my missus was up there with the young ones to see the special olympics , she said the improvements are great , then again anything is better than the Tuam stadium , have fun with the traffic and parking when you come down .
