If you were dropped at medieval time, what would you like to be and fight for?

King- why be anything other than top dog?

I would fight to increase my iron grip over as many lands as possible. Muhahaha.

Definitely a Lord. I have my own little chunk of world to play with, plenty of people to push around, but I don't have to think for myself. My king just tells me where to go and who's butt to kick.

    other - - - Daimyo

daimyo (dye´myô) [Jap.,=great name], the great feudal landholders of Japan, the territorial barons as distinguished from the kuge, or court nobles. Great tax-free estates were built up from the 8th cent. onward by the alienation of lands to members of the imperial family who could not be supported at court. These estates were administered by territorial barons, or the daimyo. By the 12th cent. certain daimyo had become more powerful than the emperor himself. One, Yoritomo , became the first shogun and forcefully revised this situation by setting up a centralized feudal system. The power of the shogun disintegrated during the fierce civil wars of the 14th, 15th, and 16th cent., but in the early 17th cent. Ieyasu completed the reunification of Japan. The daimyo who supported Ieyasu before the decisive battle of Sekigahara (1600) became the fudai, or hereditary vassals, and his opponents were known as tozama, or outside lords. The tozama, who controlled the rich western fiefs, were generally viewed with suspicion by the shogun and were excluded from office in the central government. Ieyasu's descendants, the Tokugawa shoguns, deployed the daimyo and shifted their fiefs to retain power in the central government.

The daimyo were advised by a council of elders consisting of their highest-ranking vassals. The civil and military administration of the daimyo domains were staffed by the samurai.

it didnt used to be that way in the medieval times. Women were still an option. Monks and Priests were rich enough to afford the finest...

I chose sultan. The highest authority, just like the king, only the sultans lived around people that took baths more often.

Lord, for me, preferably Lord of the Isles.

It was theirs but to do or die.

Count. A large fortune, private army and the chance to scheme your way to the throne. Lord is too low, King too high, and Count Chubb sounds better than Duke Chubb

There is no Emperor, so I have to vote 'other'.

Ahh, yes the trappings of power that come about only by crushing your enemies and stealing their land...

A baron. Low enough to evade most political games but high enough to achieve something. I would not want to worry about loyalties of generals and governors. Just give me my own little place were I can do my own thing, without too much interference from above or too much competition from below.

King's brother would perhaps offer the same prospect: more politics, but in exchange more wealth and power. Let my brother worry about politics, I will just do what he says and make the most of it.
I am not a natural leader or politician. I need someone to take care of that for me.

    I voted other.

Head of a rich family and a son or sons in every country. I would then lend to these rulers and have them pay me interest. If they didn't pay me, I would finance another country to war against them. Then continue to get interest again.

I would remain hidden from society, so the rulers assassins could not find me. My eldest son would take over from me. My other sons would do well as well, getting a percentage of the interest then enable to collect.
