For me, the Germans are the best With them, you can be at war with almost everybody and still triumph.

For me my favourite is the Danes. I just love swarming the world with vikings and later Viking huscarles.

In early once you have huscarles (You can get them before 1110) nothing can take on your infantry except for VG's.

My next favourite which is a very close second is the Germans. I love the challenge of getting all my farms running and securing the land before I conquer the world. And if I last until late Gothic Knights just tear through the enemy knights.

I'm a big Spain fan. Jinetes are too fun to not have them available to you, and after building a few ships you can start scraps with almost any faction on the board without too much of a cash outlay, while honouring your alliances and even those of your allies.

I guess you can do that with almost any faction,

but I had to post a better reason than just jinetes are fab.

Its a toss up between English and Turk. I am IN LOVE with all the great turk units like Futtwas, Jan heavy inf, Ghazi, Turcoman horse ect. And then i love the longbow more then anything hehe.

I only play online ,so the campaign aaspects dont apply here,
but I used to like almos best but seeing how I picked them for every game for about 800 games in a row I got bored with them and now russians are my favorite

Got to be either Russia or the Byzantines. Russia kicks some fat butt in VI hence they have those armoured spearmen. Byzantines on the other hand possess most likely the best and the cheapest medium infantry in MTW (Byzantine Infantry anyone?

)
Especially the Byzantines tend to wash the floor with the rest of the known world

like sledge and ragss, I absolutely love the turks. their starting position is great in Rum and and Syria both menacing 4 provines, an sure ransom for the egyptian sultan as I stated in the best starting position thread and their units.
their units are the best. nothing like hordes of turcoman horse running circles around slow byz units and pounding on the gates of const. (soon to be istanbul

Also, once it falls

, then you can produce silver ghazis then it makes the enemy go

and you are like

. The turkish discount for ghazis and silver armor makes for the cheapest, most durable fire and forget missiles. once you get em to V3or4, let em rip

Polish, apart from the natural reason also because playing them is really hard, and I like challenging games. But I also like playing the French, the HRE, Russians, Hungarians a lot

, Sicilians, and of course Golden Horde

In VI I like Saxons the most, well Vikings are overpowered a bit, but that is kind of historical, anyway they are too easy to play I think.

yes, Vikings are a little too powerful, even if Saxons can offset their huscarles with ones of their own (the same stats, i think) there's no remedy for Joms, and if you add some Berserkers into the mix, Vikings are deadly... actually i just conquered the Britain with them about an hour ago Odin will rule forever

Have to go with the Hungarians this time. Been performing miracles with their Sletzky cav. combined with the Avar nobles from Moldavia.
But the Danes, Biz, Germans and Turks are superb too. TBH I find all factions great.

I still enjoy playing as the Spanish best (single player campaigns). To me, Jinettes are similar to Cavalry Archers in Shogun--fast, versatile and always a major pain in my opponent's petard. As the Spanish I can immediately set off to conquer North Africa and the Middle East, or Europe, or dominate both militarily and ecomonically via sea power and trade (or as I often do now, all of the above). I really enjoy the fun fights right off the bat with the Almohads, Portuguese, and Aragonese (and for me usually, those pompous English pigdogs too).

I still haven't played all the factions though, so this may change. I am particularly looking forward to playing the Danes as I've upgraded to VI, and the new Danish units look like FUN.

These games are great ... so many variations, so many hours of fun, fun, FUN

I like playing different factions and will not make a favorite. Each factions has strengths and weaknesses, and a good ruler, make the best of what he has got.

For me it all depends on what im doing and the situation
for example:
Whether im attack or defend.
The terrain e.g. desert.
The map what advantages/disadvantages i have.

Byz,to use an obvious example, is definately better, especially in early era.

Has to be the Germans. I've played my most enjoyable campaigns as the Holy Roman Empire. So many directions to go, although the Pope can be a hindrance.

HRE was my first MTW campaign though I never finished it thanks to a hard drive failure. Their situation certainly had my head swimming a few times as to which direction to send the armies.
