Thread: Valour -1 after starting a battle

Hey all. I was wondering if anyone has had smiliar problems as me before with a general thats being trained up. I took a prince that became a normal general for its Great Warrior vice which i havn't been able to get with any ordinary units. He also has expert attacker, skilled risky attacks, natural born killer, and expert defender at the moment. There are actually 2 questions i would like to ask.

First when in campmap mode, my general shows 9 stars, and also shows valour of 9. When he gets into battle however, that number increases to 14. whats going on?

Second, I have a quicksave with him just about to defend prussia against a bunch of low level rebels. after letting go of a few volleys of arrows and getting some kills, my valour drops to 13. After i win the battle the score sheet shows i've gotten a -1 valour decrease. I exit the battle and in campmap, my valour is still 9. Next time i enter battle its at 13.

I really don't know where to begin to figure this out... If anyone know of anything that might be useful...

    thanks

Your general's virtues affect him in battle like so:

Great warrior +5 health (makes him harder to kill, only generals and royals have more than 1 hitpoint)
expert attacker +2 command when attacking
skilled risky attacks +1 command when attacking and vastly outnumbered
natural born killer +3 valour +2 dread in any battle
expert defender +2 command when defending

The bonuses only apply in the appropriate battle conditions so they don't show up on the campaign map, however the moment you hit a defensive battle your generals 'expert defender' comes into play giving him a +2 command for that battle.

Evry indivudual has hes own valor in the kings unit, some have higher valor then others so if someone in the untit died and had alot of valor it will drop, if you general is by him self and he dropped in valor i dont know why shouldnt have though..

In the campaign map the valor shown is not always the valor he will have in battle, i guess the engine doesnt calculate all hes bonuses untill the battle screen.

1X valour units are terrific. My russian prince-Russian Dvors (Wes Mod)-v14 rest stats horrible ,when I assinged him to suicide attak,he killed 75% GH army (400 men) in their last province. Then he rout.
I let him to live and to become the King.

I see about the first part of the question. The second question tho was the more annoying one. I've done some tests with the save game and here's what happens. I'm defending Prussia against some peasants, urban militia, and slav warriors. There is just my one unit of Boyars. I'm using the tactic of running around the field til the time runs out to win this battle since i'm outnumbered 40 to 600 or so. When the battle starts, I try and spend all my missiles before i run around and waste time. If i do this, after i kill about 15-20 men, my valor drops from 14 to 13. If don't use the missle but rather charge the peasants i can mangage to kill about 60 or so before my valor drops from 14 to 13. If i don't kill anyone and not shoot a single missle and just run around til time runs out, my valor stays at 14. I'm getting to think that maybe this is a weird bug since no one seems to know why valors just suddenly drop when you kill your enemies...

    That's weird.

What happens if you autoresolve the battle?

hehe, since i'm outnumbered 40 - 600, autoresolving gets me killed. The defeat message shows around 140 or so enemy men killed and about 30 of my men lost. 10 have retreated back to one of my provinces and my general is dead.
