Thread: Which faction should I play

I'd like to write up a SP campaign, and I'd like it to be Catholic, because I'm too lazy to do the research to make a non-Catholic court believable. Really I'm just doing this so I won't be able to back out later when I decide I don't wanna post any writing . . .

And I'm doing a write-up for the Italian PBEM, so I don't want to play Italy.

I suggest Spanish. Good morale, zeal, nice units, Pope gave you often florins if you immediately start fighting with Almos, good back cover from the rest of the Catholic faction. Quick invade, blitz krieg on Aragones and Navara, so you'll have good defensive hill position. Spread your kingdom all over to Africa and Asia, so you will not have problems with excommunication.

Yah, Monk, I started jotting down notes for scenes in my Italy PBEM, and I realized it would turn into a serial novel if I let it. I've got enough ideas I need another story to put them in.

Go for a fench GA early game. Actually hard enough to be interesting, and enough important events to write interesting stories about. You win on all counts
I was trying to find some help in the ancient military journals of General Tacticus, who's intelligent campaigning had been so successful that he'd lent his very name to the detailed prosecution of martial endeavour, and had actually found a section headed "What To Do If One Army Occupies A Well-Fortified And Superior Ground And The Other Does Not", but since the first sentence read "Endeavour to be the one inside" I'd rather lost heart.

Write about the Russians of High. Very interesting time period, although their depiction needs some higher accuracy.

I would second the French. The kicking english off the continent, stave off the HRE and aragonese while crusading for the Krak is really hard. Then you can have a nice time building notre dame and saint chappelle.

if you play strictly defensive, it's even more interesting and you are almost bound to have a poor royal line.

Have you considered MedMod game for this? Destriders rule

Katank, I'm sad to say I haven't even downloaded MedMod yet. I just feel like I haven't exhausted the game as it is, yet, and I want to save MedMod until I need to breathe some new life into it. I'm gonna beat it 'til it's dead, then try MedMod, I think.

Wizard, I'm actually kicking myself right now (as we write) because I just started Novgorod/High/Expert without taking any notes, and with the Mongol invasion it just turned into a great story. My fourth Prince was born with 7 command, and has the avarice, natural leader, and brave V&V lines, so he's 7 command and +4 morale. The Khan himself led the assault on Kiev, and with 2 arbs, 1 arq., 2.5 Halbardiers and some various spearmen, he held off 4,000 Mongols and killed the Khan.

Come to think of it, I might just start the story with the Prince turning 16, and have any Yesevolod III plot be backstory. My greatest fear with writing the Russians is that I'll get lazy and the politics will turn into hackneyed Cold War stereotypes. Kruschev sabre-rattling, that kinda stuff. We shall see, though. Still gotta finish Italy.

    Id say Aragonese.

These guys are virtualy ignored and get creamed every campaign

(except my current Turk one where they are my allies and have decimated the spanish english and french)
