    Hi all,
I saw the question raised in an earlier thread, but it didn't seem to give a clear answer: mountains (height) and trees obviously impact various units. But what of roads, and (more importantly to me) shrub/hedgerows? Troops and cavalry both blast through them without slowing, archers seem (I think) to fire over them, you can't hide behind them....

So the question- are they just to add color???

Roads have no impact on movement and the shrubs/hedgerows are just..well to add color as you say.

AFAIK we have to wait for RTW for any effects from shrubs, dont know about roads..but one can always hope.

Yea, I thought as much. But I was kind of hoping.... it seems like so much of this game DOES apply plus/minus adjustements for so many criteria. So its really only hills (height) and woods that can be strategically manipulated, huh?

I think roads actually make the troops move marginally faster esp. cav but I maybe hallucinating.

the shrubs are just for decorations though.

I believe that roads make your units move slightly faster, but I don't use it that much. Much better to flank or go in the woods rather than march around in the open on roads .

If there's a bustle in your hedgerow
    Don't be alarmed now

The roman roads should have some effects. But not in battles. AS to scrub, with velites hidden

Check the new unit profiles on www.totalwar.com

Under special abilities for Velites it says Can hide in Scrub
