there is another Rome mod with its first version coming out at the end of the month. maybe you could ask for some of his 115 new units as it would save you time.

    linkie

I prefer to do my own work, may sound stupid and time consuming but it is my way. Units won't be a problem as soon as I solve this problem, another problem with asking for units from the other Roman MOD is, he isn't just doing the Rise of Rome, he is doing all the period from the first Punic War tothe Collapse of Rome, thus his 115 units will not all be in the timeframe I am doing. One other thing is that I already have lists of units planned out so, I'd rather just stick to my own plans.

I haven't tried barocca's suggestion yet, I'll do it tonight and see if it works out, otherwise I'll just do the buildings before bothering with the units.

Farmlands have been replaced with the following system:

Supply Center > Warehouse > Forest Clearing > Farmland

Basically when you invade a province you need to build a Supply Center to store supplies for your armed forces, basically you build up from there to having farmlands in the province to show that you can't simply expect a large income from a newly invaded province and that you need to keep a grip on the province for a large stretch of time before you fully colonize it into been part of your Empire, thats the idea, in every province I'll be trying to make you build up from scratch to make expanding a little less quick due to the large amounts of rebel provinces next to certain factions (The Carthaginians for example can easily unite the Iberian Penninsula, but I don't want them to be building stone forts too quickly, I want the process to show some degree of sloath).

Hopefully in the next few days there will be some major updates.

I'll be using the same Ballista as is in the game right now, I'll make it a little bit better however because I don't really think the ballista is that powerful, I'm thinking of which seige weapon to use because the ballista isn't too brilliant at knocking down walls.

CTW won't be degenerating into a no holds barred, first blood or any other kind of wrestling match (Theres probably newer ones but I disowned WWE after its crap storylines).

    Battering Rams are possible.

Duke John was going to make Uruk-Hai Battering Ram's, however they decided not to, he had a screenshot of it too, so it is possible in theory.

Possible, but the problem is the computer wouldn't use it as a siege weapon, it would use it as a normal melee unit and hence they would send it into battle, this is the main problem with Battering Rams.

well you could make them as a seige weapon by making them ranged by 1 or something it would mean there would be a tiny gap between the object hit and the ram and you would probably have to declare it as seige damage
    thanks dessa

That is a possibility yes, but for now I'll have to rely on a Catapult and Ballista with the possiblity of a Battering Ram after I get LightWave and add it in in an add-on.

I haven't worked on the MOD for a few days as I have been busy with other non-game related things, so there has been very little progress.

the problem with the MOD is that people will be expecting it to be near completion due to the screenshots, whereas in reality its a while off beta standard. It will be out this year, its just a matter of when I have time to make proper efforts with it, currently I haven't had the time.

Seen as it is the half term however you are in luck as far as the work on the MOD goes as I have far more time to actually do things with it, over the next week the plan is-

a)Finish adding in buildings used by every faction, i.e. Castles and their variations, Supply Center onwards etc.

b)Write the descriptions for both the campaign and the factions.

    c)Make large lists of units.

Those are realistic additions this week, though if I have the time away from other things I may do some more work on it.

    Indeed it wasn't.

I'll be working on the MOD a bit today, I don't know what on yet but if it's worthy of a screenshot then I'll take a few, its dobtful that it will be units, I prefer to get the whole campagn out of the way first.

Just a small reminder, this MOD WIPES OVER MTW, you will not be able to play any of the original campaign with this installed.

    News

Centurion : Total War is now accepting beta tester for the campaign, i need people who:

-Are willing to play the campaign over and over MINUS the CTW units, your job is to test that the factions are working properly and that the buildings are working in a proper way.

-Are prepared to give me feedback, I do not want to send you the files only for you to go away and play with them, your job is not to get the MOD early as a treat, your job is to test the MOD for me.

-Are willing to offer HISTORICAL suggestions and GAMEPLAY suggestions backed up with knowledge of how to do these changes, you are allowed to MOD the files yourself before sending them to me for me to see if the changes are a plus or not. Do not fear modding the files yourselves, I have the whole MOD on my PC prior to your tinkering so I can easily send you the files you need to get your version working again if you come across any errors or I do not feel that the changes are necessary.

-Are willing to spend their own time doing this, I aren't asking you to dedicate 10 minutes a day to this, if you want to beta test you need to be willing to but in atleast an hour, not a day but when you are actually testing the campaign.

-Are willing to hold any PRIVATE MOD information from the public, though it may be nice to tell people whats going on with the MOD if something I announce excites you, if it is private you are expected to keep it that way.

Thats about it, e-mail me at samandshirley@splaxton.fsnet.co.uk if you are interested in becoming a beta tester for CTW.

I will be zipping it up into ZIP files which i will upload to the Org, anyone can download them true but the changes I make after and during your beta-testing will not be released to them, they'll be stuck with an unfinished version if the download it. I'll announce it to you PRIVATELY via e-mail when its all uploaded, please make a new MTW directory on your hardrives ready for CTW.

You'll need to download them when they are uploaded, I'll e-mail you the web-addresses, you just have to extract them to the folder "Medieval-Total War", or extract them anywhere and copy and paste the folder into your new directory, a Read-Me will explain it more don't worry.
