    Hi Axel, thanks for your support. For now I'm focusing more on Custom Battles - to see how it goes - but I'm planning for a hopefully campagin, featuring all lands as is described in the book i.e. from the arrival of the Noldor to Middle Earth to the destruction of Thangorodrim.

    As regards to the units, yes. Thankfully, I've managed to gather scattered information from the Silmarillion forums about unit information. As soon as I compile them together, I shall post them here.

    As promised, here is a list of the various factions that shall 'hopefully' be included in the game. I thought of dividing the Elves in 2; i.e. the Noldor and the Sindar. There are some minor subdivisions according to the Elven Princes. Thanks go to Monk for his research and the translations into the appropriate Elven languages.

    Thanks for the support. Good idea about the new unit - I forgot about Sauron's Werewolves, thanks.

    I think it would be a good idea for the ME:TW and S:TW to collaborate and help each other out to bring two Tolkien mods to the M:TW VI game. How's it going there?

    To be honest, no work has been done these 3 weeks. I can't manage alone and no one seems to be interested in helping out on modding. I'll see how it will go through the Christmas recess - hopefully to a better start.

    Don't give up Aenarion ,, From what Ive read and what screenies i have seen you have quite a bit of it already done ,, Perhaps you can get stuck into it after X'mas and make enough progress for an announcment and a skeletal beta release !! ... I'm sure that will get everyone downloading and hyped and offers of help will come along with those that abandoned the project ... Take inspiration from people like Macsen & Cegorach at present , they are working alone and realising a dream ,, I wish you all the best over the coming months on this mod .. cheers .

    Hi Aenarion, axel alerted me to this mod and I've checked it out a bit on this site and the Chamber of Records.

    I do have some experience with modding MTW:VI, and a decent amount of knowledge about the Silmarillion. School will be starting up for me again in a week, so I can't come on as a full team member, but this is a very interesting mod and I think the MTW system still has a lot of potential, especially for a Middle-Earth based mod. I could offer suggestions, maybe take on limited projects, that sort of thing. I've made a few mods for the Viking map of MTW:VI, featuring entirely new factions and units created from pre-existing MTW or VI units. I'm familiar with Gnome and most of the relevant text files.

    I do NOT have any experience with modding the campaign map or battle maps, or creating entirely new units from scratch. But if a campaign map can be made, I'd say that's the one true hurdle here -- after that, making the factions and everything else should be pretty easy. I see you've already got some units figured out.

    Anyway, hope things are going well so far with the mod. Let me know if I can be of some assistance, and I'll let you know how much I can offer -- although my dial-up internet connection may be a bit of a hindrance if I start getting really involved. Good luck,

    Thanks mate its to bad i cant mod i would learn but i dont know where to start and my work is keeping me verry buzzy at the moment, but if i cane learn somme easy stuff i would really want to help.
    I think there s ever been a campain map made i did see it on the old MEtw forum and the MEtw mod makers did have a campain beta but i did nt work properly i think, but i am not shure.

    But thanks for the responce i hope Aenarion will be on this topic soon

    while you keep working on custom battles modifications, I'd like to try putting up campaign map if you agree, I need only the starting bmp map image and regions names and their approximate location.
    I can't say now if I'll get any good output but, just a trial, then you'll say if it's worth developing.

    Main areas of modding needed:-
    MAP MAKING - being able to create battle maps representing the various locations in the Silmarillion universe.
    CAMPAIGN MAKING - probably the most difficult aspect of the enitre modding process. The ability to create a new campaign map (MAPTEX,etc) based on the Beleriand Map.
    UNIT MODDING - one aspect I'm currently working on, but due to the amount of work needed, assistance will be helpful.
    TEXT FILE EDITORS - in charge of editing the necessary text files to adapt to the story's world; thus, changing names, unit descriptions, place descriptions, etc
    I would help out with the Unit Modding and Text File editing, however I'm caught up with my own mod at the moment.
    But I can still do a bit of the Descriptions and names so just send all of the loc text files to me right away if want my err, skills.

    Also, Hound of Ulster, the METW mod for RTW I don't believe got very far, but the one for MTW:VI released a semi-stable campaign. However it is quite poorly balanced. Evil faction's units are terribly underpowered.

    I want to play as the various Elvish factions, and I could use more mods for MTW (3 as opposed to the 5 I'm currently running for RTW/BI). Fantasy mods like this one are a good change of pace from the usual historical settings of the total war series as well.
