Think i've seen several ppl mention seeing Saladin as a hero general in the game, but after playing through egyptian AND looking throught the heroes file i couldnt find him at either place. Is he in the game?

yes, are you sure you looked through the right hero files?

His name in MTW is not saladin though, but nur al-Din (I think). He's born in 1136 so you can get him in 1152.

I think it is also possible to have a prince or monarch who will get his name and will get good command, atleast the manual says that.

Nur al-Din is not saladdin, but Nurredin. That is a muslim General, who detached a certain man named Salah-Ad Din to Egypt. The latter built his own power base there and when his C-in-C ordered him to come back to Syria, Sal. disobeyed. Nur. then equipped an army to teach Sal. a lesson, but died before he could leave. Thereafter Sal. united Egypt and Syria and began his war against the crusader states, which would culminate in the battle of Hattin.
In game, Sal. is none of the regular heroes, but he may appear as one of the Egyptian princes (just as Richard lionheart or Henry V with the English), if you are lucky. His name is Al-Nasir I (I think) and he is a 7* commander.

Is there a way to force this? For example I generally eliminate prince's so that the best all round prince (not necessarily the highest star general)succeeds.
What I mean is suppose as England I keep eliminating all Princes named other than Henry (kill off alll the edwards, Richards etc), so after William that you start with, you would get Henry, Henry II, Henry III, Henry IV, and then would Prince Henry (who will become Henry V) emerge as a superb military leader?

Errrrr.... I think that's the way it goes (but I'm not 100% sure, because I never tried it myself). If you have some good princes, different than Richard I or Henry V, why would you kill them? It may be nice to have Richard I as leader of a crusade or beat the French badly with Henry V, but a 6* Henry IV will do as good as a 6* Henry V.

No of course as a gneeral rule you dont kkill of any prince who is good, what I was thinking of is that stage when the heirs start deteriorating - often wiht England (less so with Turkey, the other factioni have played most with), you start of with a poor King, the heirs are weak, and with time beconme worse. If you could force a historical monarch, that would be great to break ouyt of the atrocious kings line
