    1 million apologises as I have no doubts this has been answer before but I have question...how exactly do I make Golden Horde playable faction?I did follow someone's tut before which resulted in not being able to launch MTW VI.Working links to tutorials will be very much appreciated.
    Also it there a way of importing STW files like units and maps?

    hello there, check my posts in the dungeon about mongols, i put in most of the mongol/pagan work i've done there...and as to importing units from one game to another, i'm exploring this a bit as i dont know but i would like to, i know its been done...check out barocca's work, his STWmod beta uses the japan map and the medieval engines churning...plenty of the samurai units there, play it or take a look at it, superb stuff...anyway good luck

    BTW I did download some sort of campaign creator but I guess it is still in the beta stage (run time errors).Also for some reason I keep having problems with launching MTW when using downloaded custom battles or campaings.It might be something simple but again I'm quite new to all these..

    no prob, just look for my name in alchemist lab for the mongol/pagan info i put there...its a work in progress too for peeps who wanna mod crap around and eventually create their own 'mods' as i do...so i hope it helps...

    loading problems i have had have always been simple text errors in like perhaps startpos, or crusader_unit or build...where there is a simply comma, or letter or some such nonsense left out and missed,
    however good to catch this problem, as u then can doublecheck stuff and learn more...

    Have a look there.

    Down the page, you'll find a couple of Hord savegames to start a hord Campaign right from the start

    If you want to start your own HORDE campaign, then, I'll suggest using -ian instead of moding.

    here are the steps

    1/ add -ian to your starting mtw command line; this is a debug mode with unlimited view, and a few other feature, including changing faction in game
    2/ start a high game with whomever
    3/ comes 1232, press shift+6, and voila, you are the Golden Hord

    also, have you tried changing the GH entry in the starpos files to FT_MAJOR instead of FT_MINOR in the set active factions section?

    the -ian thing is easier though.

    Well...following some guides I did change few things around managed to play Golden Horde campaign.As being new to MTW I found it a bit challenging.No emissaries,assassins,princesses.
    Takes so long to be able to raise Heavy Mongol Cavalry.I was not doing to bad until most of my general rebelled against me.

    My question would be: how can Mongol's religion plus culture be change from Pagan to Muslim ?
    Changing SetCulture:: FN_GOLDEN_HORDE PAGAN_CULTURE and SetReligion:: FN_GOLDEN_HORDE REL_PAGAN only resulted in CTD.

    why do you want to change religion to muslim?

    if you want to do so because of religious incompatibility, use gnome to have GH units have an influence on religion. This is able to overcome the lack of religious agents.

    Also, you can mod in pagan shrine and sacrificial altar form the vik. campaign into the main one and make those available to the horde.

    BTW, why do you need to build GHC? your starting units should be enough for a very long time and you probly don't have enough to afford any anyhow due to crippling support.

    How did you get generals rebelling against you? I think all of them have very high loyalty and your khan should have max influence in beating the snot out of any faction that crosses you. Heck, I think you can take on the Turks, the Byz, and the Russians all at once and win.

    If you have civil war problems, try puttin high command, low loyalty generalss apart from a stack and move them that way along with the stack and don't enable auto tidying up of stacks.

    this way, your not so loyal general would still command battles but wouldn't have huge following if he goes against you.

    without stack, he usually doesn't anyhow.

    Download the newest medmod the horde is available (I've yet to play a GH campaign) in the late era I believe.

    I managed to make them playable from early and complete with buildings and some additional units. However, due to a lack of interest and a possible 9mb download, I never uploaded this mod.

    how much tweaking was required and did you use gnome editor or something else to acomplish this.?
    also how long did it take to make the mongols playable in early any advice tips please.

    Some of the changes I made aren't historically accurate and some rebalancing needs to be done. The high faith propigation of the religious buildings was to offset the lack of priests. After some research, there was no clear religious figure in mongol society which was one of the most religiously tolerant in history.

    I edited these files using Editpad or Wordpad. Mostly because I'm used to editing tab delimited text files this way.

    more like radical surgery than a tweak .
    how long to alter everthing and any problems encountered. editpad wordpad? i find i make to many mistakes in regards to the column alignment for some of the changes thanx for your detailed reply do you mind if i print it off please.

    seven.the.hun hows the mod/mods doing i have secret history of the mongols[translated by cleaves. genghis khan world conqueror by ata-malik juvanini.genghis khan or emperor of al men harold lamb. and genghis khan michel hoang. if you require any info regards minor officers/generals there are a few mentioned in these books. i also have history of china.land of genghis khan the rise and fall of the nation states in chinas northern frontiers. also various books on medievial warfare/crusades and military books on the middle east and late byzantium 1081-1204-1453. and a few osprey titles with plates.

    ok, that seems to make sense, i see, just never tried an early golden horde thing, so there is no re re appearance or whatever, that's cool, might try it out, as i normally duke out mongols in the high as i got all that nonsense working there...
    eh well, anyway, who cares, another round for the pagans

    Kind of. I've added a description what needs to be done to get it running. Unless you've set up a new install of VI, you might want to backup a few files.

    I setup some heroes too (forgot to add that) but they might need a little rebalancing too. ;)

    EDIT
    The startpos file for high era is a test file. With a little bit of editing it could easily be used though.

    Katank - I wasn't planning on it. This mod is kind of rough in that it overwrites quite a few files and doesn't have much of readme.

    I was able to down size it a bit and split it into 3 zip files under 2048kbytes to fit into the org's upload limit. Of course there's only 15 portraits each for spies. assassins and emissaries now.

    were have you uploaded it to? i usually use the files at the top of the page to download etc but it says it has reached its bandwidth limit. as the other download site were mods/maps/tools etc is a pain the arse.
