The lazy bums in your army will tire faster in the rain and snow.
Tired or not, I *STILL* expect them to kill and die for their master...

I think it rains the most in spring but I'm guessing. I don't recall if anyone has studied the campaign weather enough to have reliable stats.
I'm pretty sure that winter causes troops to fatigue more quickly with or without precipitation.
Time flies like the wind. Fruit flies like bananas.
I believe in Spring you can get light drizzle, and Summer heavy downpour or big sunshine.

Most rain comes in Spring.
Although in Britain it can come all year round because of our crap climate

Malta, sun all your round!
All seasons have different features. In Spring and Autumn most times there is no fog and when there is rain there is usually a sunny period next...and vice-versa. In Summer if you get a fine day you would probably have a fine day all round while if it rains - it will rain all day. Also in Summer there can be fog and it is quite common. In Winter you can get either snow or fine day; never rains. But snow has same effect as rain and tires men quickly.

Of course there is a little known feature where in 1564 with a H7 Ashigaru in Owari then it will rain frogs, and the opposition will hop it.

On a prominence take the flat; where it is flat take the prominent. Where strong comes, take weak; where weak comes, take strong. Where there are many hills, take water; where there is much water, take hills.."

Never laugh at the old when they offer counsel,
Often their words are wise:
From shriveled skin, from scraggy things
That hand among the hides
And move amid the guts,
Clear words often come.

Surely winter should enhance the ability of the Mongols ?? Let us not forget when they started their campaign in Russia and Europe........Winter !!!!.........Orda
well tell u what, in Melbourne we have 4 season in 24 hours... it rains, hot, warm, mild, cool... bleh.. no wonder ppl in melbourne has flu every twice a month... pain the arse...
the weather stats for each season are in a text file in the game. I think it is unimaginatively named "weather". Poke around ofr it in your total war folder and it gives u the incidence if weather.
Dont alter it though!

Too bored to read all replies. Makes yer men tire faster. Inaccuracy increases for all projectiles and reloading time. Renders arq useless. Snow adds to the morale of high armoured units me finks :P

I did some in-game experimenting a while back. I recorded weather for 100 days for each season on the Totomi map (if that matters). Below are my results for each weather type for each season (sp=spring, etc).:
Fine day: sp=41, su=35, au=21, wi=25
Fog: sp=10, su=18, au=10, wi=22
Rain/snow: sp=40, su=40, au=58, wi=53
Windy: sp=8, su=2, au=8, wi=0
Regarding fog: winter tended to have heavier fog, while summer tended towards light fog.
Regarding rain: spring favored light rain(14 of 40) while autumn favored heavy/very heavy rain (22 of 58). In all seasons light rain/snow was common (12-18 days)
These aren't the results I expected. As others have stated, I thought Spring would come up with the most rain. Perhaps chance skewd my results from "normal". I present the results for whatever they are worth.

BTW, the numbers for spring and autumn don't add to 100 because I didn't include "cold" days. Spring had 1 cold day, while autumn had 2.

thanks all for replying esp turin and greg
does anyone know any more on theforces theory of morale and snow??
and what about musks in snow?

Yes Barry,
Rain/Snow makes muskets slower and less powerful. Arqs don't work at all. The archer is far less accurate in rain as it is also in wind. Cavalry don't like rain too, if you ever noticed.
Spring was always considered as the one with least rain by most Greg. There was speculation that autumn has less rain than spring, while your research proved it wrong...as I expected. Anyway I like summer because fine days with blue sky is quite common when you have a fine day.
