1. Practice your art skills using ReadBIF and UltimatePaint (bleh). It helps your pride alot when people are using faction flags you create on your own (Mine suck, but I use them anyway).
2. Do not be afraid to spend several minutes to install two more copies of MTW in addition to the original. If one installation you mod with screws up (I mean REALLY screws up), delete it and copy over from the second installation and try anew.
3. Stretch your fingers and neck out every thirty minutes or so. You will be sitting at the computer a LONG time before something is usable and to your liking.
4. Headache medicine. Need I say more?
5. Do NOT bother with historical accuracy if you really want to add something to your mod. Playing the Swiss in the Early era isnt accurate, but it sure is fun
6. If you DO want historical accuracy, there are two websites you should see. One is http://www.encyclopedia.com and the other is http://flagspot.net/flags/ . Both are great for getting the histories and historic flags of the period.
7. Browse the books from www.osperypublishing.com and buy/read them, especially the Man-At-Arms series. They have a LOT of info about the units and countries from the times, with full page color pictures of period clothing, weaponry, and armor. They rock.
Please contribute to the list as you see fit.
