Hey I was just wondering what new units you guys would like seen added to the game if you could... I started thinking about this when i was looking at faction-specific units. I am polish and I like the fact that we have our polish retainers but I really wanted to see this other unit that we are most famed for. It is called the Hussar or winged horseman. They were really cool, and one of the most feared across our part of europe. They had these huge poles on their backs decorated as wings. these wings were covered in reeds and whistles that would make a loud screaming sound as the calvary charged thier foes... I think that would have been A cool unit for us polish except for the fact that they were circa 1500-1600's and the game ends in like 1453 or something...

They are pretty cool, a shame they are not medieval.

Well the association between Malta and the Knights Hospitaller didn't happen until a century after the game ends, and the mortars available in the late era look exactly like the mortars used in the English Civil War in the 1640s, so I wouldn't worry about that little detail.

Something I am working on: naptha archers

Here take a look at them, they are pretty rough... They became famous after winning a battle at Orsza on September 8,1514, where 30,000 polish troops, including the light cavalry, defeated 80,000 Muscovy troops, and it even managed to take prisoner the commander, Y.P. Cheladin.

    Witaj Apocalyp$e

I dont think Polish Winged Hussars (winged hussars were not only used by the Poles, if I remember corectly, the Serbs first used them) should be included in M:TW timeframe. There are many other historical units the Poles could have tho, like: Knights of Dobrzyn, Czeladz, Mounted Czeladz, Strzelcy (russian Streltsy), Wojowie Piesi (like Polish Retainers, but on foot; armed with sword or axe and round shield; wearing a chainmail and a Szlom helmet), Pancerni (heavy armoured horse archers) and so on...

    Regards,
    EC

Hey EC(or anybody else with the knowledge), could you maybe write a littlebit more about the units you mention here?

Like what is Czeladz and Streltsy? Something like Mounted Sergeants perhaps?

What is the historical background for the Pancerni?

Did you have any other possible units in mind?

Just curious. It is so hard to find any good info on Polish units.

There are a ton of other units they could use, but either way they are all gonna look more or less the same-guys on horses. Something like the Winged Horsemen however is more original and bigger in scope-how many of those guys on horses have wings that scream as they charge into battle? A lot of our history is built into this type of calvary, and we have done some amazing things with them... I was just reading about the battle of Vienna where the polish king led a charge of 20,000 hussars against the army of 200,000 turks and routed the lot of them. All these ancient manuscripts take stock of all the treasures found in the viziers tent, and it is crazy. This guy's tent was the size of a walled city, and it took days just to disamntle it and find everything including the viziers concubines...
I agree with the time period thing though... the hussars started appearing in the 1400's and became really famous sometime in the 1500's, so that would limit them to a late stage in the game...
