I'm playing the Welsh on normal mode. I took over the rebel providneces to the left of me and two of the Saxony providences. But everytime I go against them now their huscarles my celtic warriors and armored spearmen get cut to pieces. I just recently got welsh bandits but their now enough to kill them.

Well, after checking, I found there is no non-Viking unit that can take the Huscarles 1on1. Therefore, your best bet is to outnumber them, and make sure to flank them. Use whatever cavalry you have to swing around and hit them from the rear.

Or, if you are in equal numbers, run.

You should really try to take advantage of your bandits ambush abilities. Try to lure them in with your main army (Body Guards, Nobles, peasants, ect.) and when the fighting begins, you should have positioned your bandits to the rear of your enemy when they engage so you can surround them and probably obliterate them.

Dont know about that exact unit situation, but the trick to the saxon/welsh conflict is to hit the saxons early and ignore the rebels until later. You can push the saxons to and undeveloped province pretty easily, then they should be a non-issue.

I agree with lopir in that rushing mercians and saxons early is best solution to huscarle probem, with merc help if necessary.

Otherwise, pin with celtic warriors who hopefully have some armor and morale upgrades and hit them from the rear with cav in wedge.

shooting em full of arrows would help too.

too bad you don't get x-bows like the picts do.

Numbers and numbers and numbers. remember you can afford to cover the battlefield in numbers with your naked Sheep-botherers. That and make sure you upgrade at least one province to make better quality troops quickly. The welsh laddos really need their best unit as early as possible to make up for the lack elsewhere.
The scary thing about leaving the Org for a while and then coming back is the exponential growth of "gah!" on your return...
