Thread: HELP!

    Hey everyone

I recently started to write a novel following the civil war between King Aelle II (Usurper) and King Osbert in Northumbria.

I got a few pages done then realised that I didn't know enough about this period of history to write an accurate account albeit using creative license.

I was wondering if anybody could recommend any books or websites that I could find information on this remarkable time in British history.

This civil war occured just before the Great Viking Invasion and all I know is that the two warring factions made a fragile peace in order to fight the Vikings. Does anyone know where I can get information concerning major battles and the type of soldiers involved etc?

    Thanks for any help offered

The time period for this is around 865 AD. Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

I reckon I can get into it a bit more now.

Thanks again for the help. Much appreciated.

    Hi Copperhead.

Try scanning the list of books pinned at the top of this forum: Books on Medieval Europe and Rome. There may be one or two books in there to help you. They are books our patrons have read and recommend to others.
