What is the biggest battle anyone has ever had on M:TW?
Mine was around 52,000 men, me as the Byzantines against about 60,000 Turks.
Was wondering if it was rare to have battles this big.

How long did that battle take? Haven´t been over 30-32.000 myself and it took around 4-5 hrs mostly on fastforward.
My 500 Turks held off 15,000 Papal soldiers in Rome. I just positioned my men on a hill, spearman in front, archers behind, calvary at the flanks and special forces in recerve (i.e. Janissary heavy) at the back. The battle lasted ages, those Pope ass lickers kept comming. My 6 units of archers was the key, i destroyed 95 % of the enemy army and only lost 102.

i only auto resolve on stupid battles, like when they have less than 50 men, and i have around 500. i try not to autoresolve battles, cuz i enjoy the experience, especially watching their general being hunted down when he tries to retreat.Originally Posted by [b
never had more than a 1000 troops in my battles, but i did once fight 900vs3200 and won. No dachi samurai rule

I like to have big battles as long as it isn't rediculous. Up to 3000 men is my limit then i auto-resolve cus it takes to long to play the battles.
bigest battle? probably my 14,000 against an enemy 33,000 which i won. took about three hours though, and with odds like that, auto-calc is not an option![]()
60+ new units – including the mighty Indian War Elephants, Persian immortals and Indian naked female archers.

I don't see how Copperhead's policy works against the Mongols when you start a high game as Russians, Byz, or the Turks.
I have never done a campaign in high perios or late period. I prefer to play it all the way through. So i wouldn't know whether it is suitable or not.
autocalcing against mongols when starting in early is possible to win but from high, it's not at all viable.
autocalc ignores bridge battles which for missile heavy full of pav arb armies could easily take out the entire horde whereas autocalc would show horrible losses and defeat.
Oh right. If I ever play a campaign high or late period i will take that into account.
Biggest for me, so far, is my 6000+ against Mongols 18000. That one took me about 3hrs to play. It would have taken longer, but for some reason, towards the end, the enemy units kept walking in and all getting stuck in the same spot. They wouldn't move at all after that, and despite the fact I could hear them shooting arrows, no arrows left the square.
After 2.5hrs, I wasn't about to restart it to make it fair, so I just mowed 'em down.![]()

I have a random question about autocalcing though. Does it take into account the multiple HP of kings/princes?
I once lost some 200 men and the battle when I autocalcd an assault on a castle defended only by the danish king. So I think yes, it takes it into account.
I don't know about that.
VI is very good at giving more casualties when assaulting.
RKs are overrated by autocalc greatly and all cav are somwhat overrated in autocalc.
jedi effect is little seen though as numerically superior armies always tends to win provided they aren't too much outteched.
I saw that bug too, the 2nd campaign I played. Except that it happened after about 8 hours of battle against the horde. I surrounded the box and captured thousands of routing dudes. more than 200,000 in ransom. But I haven't see it happen since I patched to 1.1.Originally Posted by [b
Well, this is nowhere near you guy's big battles, but it is really funny.
When I was playing as the Germans/medmod/hard/early, I conquered all the way to Volyhynia and the next turn took Kiev from the rebels (I suppose the Russians got killed).
The next turn this message pops up: Kiev Invaded by Rebels Enemy: 8900 You: 1000.![]()
Hilarious. It was a bridge battle, but I still lost, becuase I was finally overwhelmed by the huge number of spears/woodsmen with some archers and polish retainers (they went rebel due to me killing polish king) thrown in. Even better, this was way before the Golden Horde arrived (it was around 1120), so I could only assume the the rebels built up their huge army from some really huge civil wars. It was crazy. Even worse, the rebels actually had more men in the steppes beyond. lol, this time I might actually lose to the rebels.
Maybe I should type in .conan.![]()
At the risk of sounding ignorant, what does '.conan' do? Is there an earthshattering 'kabooom'?![]()

Can't really remember my biggest battle, but today I had a little skirmish as the Germans against the Italians which numbered: German forces - 3675 men and Italian forces - 13980 men. It was a pretty big battle versus the Italians because (yeah yeah modded my game to huge size settings and did some other tweaking to promote large armies - and powerful ones aswell) the Mongols usually come in such large forces and above all in this scenario the Italians only had Venice, Sicily (these first two were the most profitable provinces, the rest are not all that valuable), Tuscany, Provence, Genoa, Rhodes, Crete, Milan, Sardinia and Corsica. And not to forget the fact that they probably had twice the number of men then those that fought in the battle in total I slaughtered around 8100 men and lost 1100. Those massive number of Italian Infantry, Arbalesters, Handgunners and other less numerous units just wouldn't flee untill having been cut down to about 20-40 men from 200 (It.Inf. as example) despite that their 5 star General had died a long time ago very early in the battle. This battle lasted a lot longer then I anticipated and it was a very bloody one.
