Longbows

Hi

Haven't played that much of MTW but I recently took it down from the shelf and purchased Viking Invasion as well. I am now playing the English in an Early Era campaign and trying to get some Longbowmen from Wales. However once I had built the Bowyer's Guild there, much to my surprise I could still not recruit Longbows. Is there some change in the patches or by installing VI that makes Longbow recruiting require something in addition to a Bowyer's Guild or have I encountered some sort of bug here?

you must have been playing unpatched MTW before. Since the first patch (1.1) units have been restricted to their particular era, which for longbows is High (1205). Also, since the 1.1 patch, restrictions based upon region/faction/religion/era have been in effect. You can download a unit stat file from the FAQ section or try Clan Berserk's online unit tool, for unit restrictions.

Aha. I saw that info-zip and have tried downloading it but the site keeps me at 25-40 mins queue unfortunately. Thanks for the help though. Guess I will just have to do without Longbowmen for the time being then (at least apart from those I bribed earlier which seems to be quite advanced for their time then..). The French will fall either way
