Okay, I fixed it up. I don't have time to load it up tonight though. I'll have that tomorrow night.
Its funny, with the Melita text I took care to replace the position of the text as perfectly as I could and I just assumed it worked. Might it be that you looked at the castle from the right but that it was still clear from the left? I changed it anyways. I noticed a lot of stuff like that on the map actually. To my annoyance a lot of names are under troop "spawn locations."

You got most, but there's a few left (errors in red, corrections in blue):

Map Spelling = Spelling used by Max
    Novogorod = Novgorod
    Maurentania Tingitana = Mauretania Tingitana
    Orshoene = Osrhoene
    "Numidia Delenda Est!"

Dam.... I can understand that I missed the one that had two errors but novgorod and osrhoene??? *sigh* I think I know when that happened in my editting and its just sloppiness. An accident to be sure, I fixed it, went on, made mistake and went too far back thus erasing the work done. I've worked with the map longer than I've been able to play the actual mod! lol.

    I've fixed and reloaded it.

    Excellent! Looks great!

For those who'd like a faster download, the new Fall of Rome 3.0 Game map can also be downloaded from here (zip includes a short "how-to-install" text file)

what if you save that map as jpg at 90% quality. No one will see difference in quality, but size will do down a lot. I believe, that everyone is able to convert jpg back to tga. If not, then I suggest to try Irfan View. It's freeware image viewer and converter.
If you dislike quality loss, try to save it to png. Loseless compression with good compression ratio.

Uh...sorry to be a pest while you guys are in the middle of doing everything but...where do I find this mod?! The rapidshare link brings me to what looks like their home page but I can't find the Fall of Rome mod! I had an older version of F.O.R. on my old computer and loved it. Sounds like a lot of work has and is going into it since. I have BI but have a feeling I'll like this better!

    Thanks

Its no problem :) I'm not sure what the problem is but here is the 3.0 version
    http://rapidshare.de/files/5087854/F...e-3.0.exe.html
On that above page you have to scroll down a bit and select "free" for you download selection. You don't have to signup for it. Once you click that you have to wait about 30 seconds and then the download should work.

Here is the map with installation instructions http://cullivan.com/FOR/FOR3.0_Map.zip

I hope that works for you

    Wait 30 seconds?!...but I'm from New York!

Thanks NodachiSam. Downloaded everything, now I'm looking around for my MTW CD's to do another install. Should take from a day to a week.

I checked out your art and it's damn good.

Wait! If you have an unmodded MTW+VI install, all you have to do is copy that folder (and all subfolders) to a temp location, delete all save games and battle replays, etc., rename to whatever you want, and copy to your final location. Since I'm well-off for HD space, I keep just such a MTW+VI folder permanently in my TEMP folder. Whenever I want to install a new mod, I rename it and copy away!

No such luck. I've got it modded to XL (which is my default) and it looks as though my MTW CD's have met with an untimely end. Just ordered MTW from Amazon. My past exprience with FOR alone makes it worth it. Maybe by the time that they get here 3.1 will be out!

Glad that the modding community's still active with MTW/VI after all this time! RTW/BI just haven't grabbed me the way they have...maybe it has something to do with routing Scythian barbarians shouting "Run for your lives!"/"Head for the hills!" in English (with an American accent).

    Thanks though!

Are you talking about instructions for the map installation?

When placing the file go to you MTW fall of rome folder (Or whatever you called it) go into the "textures" folder and then into the "campmap" folder. The campmap folder is where you unzip it.
You should be asked whether you want to overwrite one file.

For the mod itself you want to unzip it into your MTW file. What happened to me was that the zip created a folder inside that folder of the same name. I had to take the stuff inside up one layer and overwrite the files in your main MTW file that you're installing the mod in. I hope this works for you. Enjoy the mod!

I just got my "new" copy of MTW from Amazon! I'm going to do another install (so I can keep XL!). From what you wrote above, if I create an F.O.R. folder, install MTW/VI there and then install the mod to the new MTW foder will that do it?? The "take the stuff inside up one layer" part has me confused (I'm no computer wiz). The map sounds easy.

    Thanks!

    Awsome!

You can install the game, its addon and the patch once and then copy the entire folder to get a second installation. That's the quick way :D Remember though, the shortcuts everywhere will be for the first installation so you'll want to make a new shortcut to your second folder. Label it appropriately and maybe put it on your desktop.

It doesn't actually matter where you unzip the main mod file. As far as I can remember the file contains a folder called "medieval totalwar" inside are 4 folders and 4 textfiles. Lets say you called your second installation "FallofRome MTW". You want to copy the 8 files inside of "medieval totalwar" and put them into your "FallofRome MTW" folder. You will be asked whether you want to overwrite a whole lot of folders. Once you've overwritten them put the map in its place and you should be ready to go.

    Great mod! Great map!

Loaded with no problems too (for me that's a "Glorious Achievement"). Well, this should put RTW back on the shelf for a couple of months.

    Thanks!

The only thing that I can't figure out is why I can't seem to build troops in Campania. Is that by design or am I missing something??

By this period, the Romans of Rome were spoiled rotten, and no longer willing volunteers for the military. I think you be may able to get Sagitarii, but that's about it.
