    Hi

I have noticed a strange behaviour with MTW/VI 2.01. If I use the quicksave function and save on the deployment screen before a battle I get strange crashing problems if I ever reload this game. After the entire turn is completed (all battles finished and all building reported and such) the game just plain crashes and returns me to the Desktop without a single error message. This is completely reproducable unfortunately. I have never experienced it with Save games saved during the normal turn though. Anyone who has experienced this before, i e is it a known bug? Is there any way around it? Are there any logfiles which might contain any error messages?

    /Eskil

Saves are best performed before making any changes: i.e. at the beginning of a turn for regular saves, or at the intial screen before a battle for quicksave. Anytime you modify something you run the risk that some info will be improperly stored in the save format. It might be a bug in the code or even a problem with your hardware/drivers/config, but the result is the same: corruption. After the end of the turn, I believe the program does some tidying up (probably clears some things.) That is why you should save before moving pieces. My corruptions have all come from saves done after many movements...end of turn saves.

really? I always quicksave after I issue all the commands with the microing and everything and never had a problem.

I used to have this problem but a fresh install seem to have fixed it. I never get CTDs or corrupted saves now.

have you tried reinstalling? Always an option

Yeah, it's a random CTD. I've had it plenty of times. Really annoying, and I wish CA would hurry up and fix it.

Tried reinstalls and other drivers, no effect. The corruptions are not common, but so far I've only seen them as a result of saves after moving things. The more complex the moves, the more likely the corruption.

My hardware is fine. MTW has the dubious distinction of having actually corrupted my system once, forcing an OS re-install. I think it has something to do with the registry fiddling done by the anti-piracy stuff, every time you run the game. Updating Configuration Settings or some such on the following boot.

There are definitely a few remaining bugs in the game. The most maddening is the way the graphics coding seems to make the game slower on a high spec system, than on low spec at times.
