    A question for the experts: In the STW Manual it states that the shrine monks carry around with them has a deleterious effect on enemy Buddhist, but not Christian, morale- is this a special ability or just background noises? If the former, what counts as being affected- do mongols, rebels, armies in MP without arquebuses count as Buddhist- and how great is its effects?

    Often their words are wise:
    From shriveled skin, from scraggy things

    And move amid the guts,
    Clear words often come.

    im not sure about the specific details but low honour budhist troops will rout quickly against monks or sometimes leg it before engaging them. but this seems to stop immediately after converting to the foul papist religion

    With the papist yoke comes the drive to convert the heathens in order to save them. When a Christian sees a pagan, which the Buddhists clearly are, then it is their sworn duty as ambassadors of the Cross to convert that bastid or slay them on the spot. So, when Christian forces face a Buddhist Monk enemy, they are actually endowed with a morale BONUS instead of the PENALTY suffered by other Buddhists. This effect is neglible when facing the cowardly pagan flocks. But their priests inspire Christians to kill!

    GAH!

    Just for the record, we are talking about single-player mode. I believe that any morale penalty caused by religion is absent from the multi-player mode.

    Correct me if I am wrong.

    Of course the Buddhist troops utilise a karma-ometer to detect what form their oppponent will transmigrate into subsequent to their being cleaved in two- kill the slugs, spare the 4th rank 2nd class official, et al.

    Wouldn't it be the other way around? Kill the ones who will transcend, and let the slugs live a little longer to rendem themselves.

    So by this logic eating animals helps them get through this life and hopefully to a higher one in the next...

    there are no monks in Mongol Invasion;
