Whats you favorite faction and why?
The condition of the people was pitiable to behold. They sickened by the thousands daily, and died unattended and without help. Many died in the open street, others dying in their houses, made it known by the stench of their rotting bodies.

Turks, because I'm greedy. Ransom the Egyptian sultan twice with katank's kidnapping opening, then invest the money and watch those florins roll.

Gotta' have those Syrian assassins, too.

The vikings. Probably because it's the faction that I know the most about and can most easily relate to.

I like almost every faction in the game for many different reasons but find myself comming back to two of them repeatedly, the English and Egyptians. I like the historic feel of playing the English with many unique units, some of them really powerful too. I prefer the Egyptians for a completely different reason; ambiance and the complete opposite exotic feel of the game.

The Danish and the Aragonese, for the challenge. Although very differant challenges...

In VI, the Scots for pride of heritage, or the Welsh for the challenge...
And I heard, as it were, the noise of thunder,
One of the four beasts sang, "Come and see,"
And I saw, and behold, a white horse.

And I heard a voice in the midst of the four beasts,
And I looked, and behold, a pale horse,
And his name it said on him was Death,
    And Hell followed with him.

The Turks due to the unique units.

    1. HRE for the difficult start and the nice units in the Late period.

    2. The Sicilian for their nice location range of option available.

    3. The French for the GA goals.

    4. The Danes for their early units

    French and HRE for GAs

Spanish for lancers, brits for longbows, almos for AUMs

Russians and Poles for financial challenge

Aragonese and Danes for strategic challenge.

Turks and Byz for most unique units available.

overall, I'd say English and Turks

    1. Byzantines, for their katanks and varangian guards and for having Constantinople as a capital. It's also fun to tech up the other provinces from scratch.
    2. Turks. Also for their unique units.

    1. Byzantines for me. I like having to face modern unit with old ones and they are the last part of the old roman empire.
    2. The Danes, cool viking units and start with only one province.
    3. The spanish, allso cool units and great starting place.

I usually like to play as the Islamic factions. I prefer their light mobility to the Catholics slow units.

If you could play as the Golden Horde in the campaign, they'd definitely be my favorite. Is there a mod that lets you do this?

use the -ian switch to start the program.

then ctrl+shift+6 gets you the horde IIRC.

anyhow, this is god mode and lets you toggle between factions with ctrl plus number keys.

add in shift for more than 10 factions.

    Hungarians

They have the best HA in the game (Szeleky) as well as having two other types of HA. Add this to all the normal Catholic units and u have a very strong faction.

English and Spanish because I know their respective military histories much better than the other factions. I want to play a non-catholic faction, but halfway through the game I find myself hoping my side actually loses because I can’t get into the game.

In VI my first 2 campaigns were with the Welsh (first unsuccessful – second 60% victory). Since then I have only been able to play the Vikings. I want to start a new VI campaign but cant figure out who would be the most challenging faction to play.

The Irish are a little dificult to play as. Securing all of Ireland is easy but it takes forever to get boats so you can attack England, while the whole time the Vikings are raiding on you.

The Spanish for me. I like Jinnettes. There is a muslim faction to hand for some Pope-friendly warfare. Reunifying the Iberian peninsular as quickly as possible makes for a fun start to the game, then you have a good defensive position to pause, tech up and build your armies, then its let the conquistadors roll...

On conquest I like to have quiet periods in between the mayhem, or at least little sub goals to achieve, but for a lot of factions it simply doesn't make any sense to stop conquering once you start. I like the English and Danes for similar reasons (unifying the British isles or conquering Scandinavia and maybe the baltic). The italians/scilians would be good if it wasn't for the pope.

I am drawn to the Muslim factions. The vast openess of the rolling desert makes the best battle-scapes.

The Spanish are my favorite faction. The Iberian peninsula provides a decent base of operations. There are mutiple iron sources so that highly teched units can be created.

In addition, the African coast is an ideal area for expansion as taking one additional province only does not create more than 1 defensive border until you get all the way to the middle east.

I like to play as all, but the Faction of MTW that I play most and am more experienced with is the Turks. They have lot of unique units, and good harrassing tactics able (Turcoman Horse, Futuwwas). One problem is for multiplayer you don't have Pavise Crossbows or any Arbalesters.

I personally love the Mongols and Muslims. A lumbering mounted knight with heavy armor will never catch a lightly garbbed Turcomor Horse Archer . I like the all the hit and run tactics. Its also fun to batter off crusaders time after time. Plus the pope is always a problem for Catholic faction, but those problems are everyday life for muslims, plus being crusaded against is so much fun... For me anyways. I also like their variaty of units. With Catholics, you get FMAA and CMAA the most of the time. Alot of them have about 2-4 indivual units. Muslims have a variety of units completely different to Orthodox or Catholic.

Byzantines. They have lots of interisting units and are fun to play. But NOT fun to beat, if they become a real empire...

I love the feel to be a leftover of the Roman empire.
Theyre units are great. And the generals are devasting.

And if u have the potential u can easely becom a superpower right away with them.

Im currently playing them. Im the superpower. But i lack allies. The golden horde, The polish and the HRE are at war with me. And they are the 3 biggest factions beside me. I think ill eventual eliminate them, they have began to b annoying.

This is the first time i play as them, and so far this is has been the most fun faction to play with.

Also like the Vikings in VI. Coz im from norway
If i could have choosen. I would want to be born 1000-2000 years ago.
