Problems runing Viking invasion

I just bought Viking invasion and the installation seemed to go well.
when i tried to start the game a error message came up, it said that the Egyptian faction could not be loaded and the game didn't load up.
I installed and installed it again and it seemed to be working but after the total war logo comes up the game goes off.
does anyone know what the problem is.
it did the same thing on my friends pc.

What's the hardware like? Video cards specs, etc.?

This happened to me. Do a virus check. You will find a virus in the your total war file near the muslim nation files. IF you ever see that you cannot play the steepe maps on MP after you do this and there is a virus, you did not get all of them.

well my pc is not then best but medieval runs on it fine.

2.60 GHz Intel celeron processor
3d agp Intel extreme graphic

noli1, first off, welcome to the Org.

You haven't by any chance downloaded and installed any mods, have you? Or have you changed any of the game files? Those things are the most likely culprits of the problem you describe.

Also, do you have the latest patch? If you have the Battlechest, then you should have the patch.

well i have a mod that makes it available to play with the pope and others non playable fraction, its a document file and is on the starpos folder.

when i installed viking invasion the file was still there on the folder but u couldn't play the fractions anymore.

could that make the game crash

Bingo Try uninstalling the game, then deleting the MTW folder, and THEN re-installing the game.
