Thread: Threads that are in the Tavern and shouldn't be

With all the discussion of what should & shouldn't be in the Tavern, I think it would help if more threads were moved out of there to the relevant forums. Lately there've been a few historical type threads that have lingered a day or 2 in the Tavern and weren't moved to the Monastery. There was also a game thread that wasn't moved to the Arena. As well as not being in the "right place", threads in the Monastery & Arena can linger for a week or more before dropping off the front page. A non-politics thread is lucky to last a day in the Tavern.

The Monastery in particular seems to be under-used, and it is not helped by so many historical topics being posted in the Tavern. Moving these threads to the proper place would not only put a bit more activity into the Monastery, but it might remind some patrons that it even exists

The same goes for the Mead Hall. IIRC one of its raison d'etre was to be a place to discuss books, movies etc as well as place to post stories. Perhaps the mods could be more pro-active in moving those kinds of Tavern topics to the Mead Hall? Especially as it could do with a little bit of help in terms of activity there.

This is not a criticism of the mods btw, I would just like to see interesting topics survive more than a few hours. The Arena in particular is a great example of how threads that linger can promote more interesting discussion. Do you think we'd have had an 8 page discussion on Morrowind if that topic had been posted in the Tavern?

Perhaps I could become a "wrong forum" nazi, much as A.Saturnus is a sig nazi?

Give my command to another, for I cannot, I will not, lead an army into battle against a civilized nation so long as the Gauls survive. I am not the young man I once was, but I swear before Jupiter Optimus Maximus that I shall see a world without Gauls before I take my final breath."

Well, strictly speaking some history threads are correctly placed in the Tavern. The Monastry was created for discussions about the history of the game period. Of course, you´ll see a lot similar topics in the Monastery so it´s a bit inconsitent. I didn´t move them because these topics were less heated but still popular enough to stay on frontpage, so they worked a bit as distracters. Hopefully we won´t need that anymore.

So will threads such as the one word story and your own esteemed Womone of Solypist be moved to that new frontroom?

Four stage strategy from Yes, Minister:
Stage one we say nothing is going to happen.
Stage two, we say something may be about to happen, but we should do nothing about it.
Stage three, we say that maybe we should do something about it, but there's nothing we can do.
Stage four, we say maybe there was something we could have done, but it's too late now.

    I would've thought so.
