The frontroom of the Tavern will be moderated by the usual Tavern-Mods. But just as the backroom, there´ll be Assistent Moderators. In the case of the backroom these will be chosen by the staff on the basis of their behaviour. However, for the frontroom it has been decided to experiment with a new procedure.
Everyone who wants to be an Assistent Moderator can solicitate here. We will then pick one of those who did. The one picked will then be Assistent Moderator for a limited period of supposedly about three months. After that we will pick a new one.
All members that have no increased flood control level at this moment can solicitate.

The job of the Assistent Moderator would be forum maintainence (moving misplaced threads) and inspecting threads for material that violates the Forum Rules and closing threads if necessary.
Note that all Forum Rules apply to Moderators and Assistents as well. In fact, those with authority should consider themselves as examples for others.

Respectfully, I'm not sure that the manner in which this is proceeding is the best idea possible. You're introducing people into a situation where they have a definate mandate without all the authority that they can be given to achieve it. The title of Assistant Moderator is not as prestigious and thus does not carry as much weight as that of Moderator(assuming one presumes to speak of prestige and weight on a gaming site). Part of the solution here is for people to respect to the utmost the ability of those in charge to discipline them if they step out of line. I'm not entirely certain that an Assistant moderator inspires the right amount of respect.

Also, am I to understand that AM's will be rotated out on three month intervals? I have a few words on that but I'm saving them until I'm sure I am interpreting correctly.
The surest way to lose the respect of one's peers is to take a stand on principle...alone.

*furrows his brow in vain attempt to comprehend all of this*

I think I am with DoL on this, except I am ever so confused about the 'prestige' part. There's prestige in this for AMs? Why wasn't I informed

DoL, I understand your concerns. We don´t know either whether it´s a good idea. It´s only experimental right now. But the AMs we want to recruit here are for the frontroom. Since the frontroom is for light topics only, it shouldn´t be too dangerous let people do the job who volunteer here.
Whether AMs (or Mods in general) have prestige lies in the eye of the beholder, but their main job here will be to move misplaced threads and to inform staff Mods when something bad´s going on. AMs aren´t staff Mods, they are a hlp to them. Nothing more, nothing less.

This is not meant for politics *spanks*

Anyway I would be a great mod don't you all reckon? Not interested in anything remotely political or topical... Ah..

If Dhepee volunteers, I'll gladly defer to him. In his absence though, I'll volunteer. My misgivings remain but frankly, I'm worried about the consequences of failure and believe I can contribute to a success.

Maybe you need one that reads the Nordic tongue...
About carrying weight; you just have to show who the boss is. I vaguer it is like the military. You have the officers who carries the authority (and damn they have to show it) and the under officers, i.e. sergeants who do the screaming; short sweet sentences with the promise of eternal pain and suffering.
The point is as soon as you get some stripes you are no longer one of the grunt. I remember that one is alienated until you show you deserve those stripes, and then it’s all OK.

    I apply for the position.

It appears that Sigurd and I applied at the same time. I didn't count on that or on his interest but he is most assuredly someone I believe capable.

I defer to Sigurd Fafnesbane. Application withdrawn.

I, on the other hand, think we should ease up on the military approach to things. Being a moderator is not about who is the boss around here, and it shouldn't be. To moderate a discussion is something quite different than being in command, or being a part of the chain of command or any other similar hierarchy based on obedience. I would also like to commend the current staff of the org for being able to tell the difference.

I would also like to apply for the position. I'm neutral enough to not let myself dragged into political quarrels and I have a good ideea about the regular tavern visitors. I would be glad to help.

i believe caporegime1984 should not be the moderator to such neutral forum with such a signature, saying down with all left forms of politics, this may create a onesided view inside the forum if a political mess occurs.
