    Hello there,

    My old computer was a PIII 800, 512ram, Geforce4Ti4800, WD 40G 8mb cache and usin Windows2kPro.

Using that to play MTW was a bit shaky with many troops and armies units. And it would probably not play RTW.

So I went out and got a P4 3.0G Prescott, a new ASUS P4800s motherboard, 1Gig of DDR RAM (Samsung). And I'll probably change over to WinXP.

However, I am having 2nd doubts about my mb and DDR RAM. I wanted to get the Asus P4P800 Deluxe and 1G of dual channel RAM instead. It cost an extra US$70+ more and I didn't mind. But my friend and the shop owner told me the difference was not noticeable. But is it? I guess I could go back and exchange it for the dual memory and Asus Deluxe motherboard tomorrow but... is it worth the bother?

    Thanks

    Crimson

For a gaming rig, 1024 ddr ram is and should be for a very long while more than enough. However, if you are a multimedia designer and use art programs heavily, extra ram wouldnt hurt. I know photoshop uses a lot when you render something.

I would not suggest you to do it, instead save the 70$ for an extra good video card.

It is better. Whether or not it's a noticable difference depends on what you're doing. It will be noticable in some games, especially if you're getting a low framerate.

The money might be better spent on something else though, your Ti4800 is getting on a little and if you want to play upcoming games with all the details on then you may need to upgrade it.

Oh and upgrading your hardware for a game before it comes out is never a good idea.
