Thread: No noobs: an old querelle

About newbies, no noobs, jaguars, tapirs, arrogance ..... and so on.

I wanna tell my opinion about no noobs game and matter like that.
It’s only my opinion on a very old querelle.

No noobs sounds at my hears like a sort of discrimination that could have bad impact on people approaching a so difficult game at first time. It is not respectful of a condition that everybody has to front once (and more and more) in life.

I remember my year of military service.
The “veteran” (9 to 12 months of service) people could be divided into two categories:
the “nonni” (transl. grandfathers) those who did abuse their experience and use their status to put themselves up on the man who was not accustomed in the new experience, even only psychologically,
and the others, those who just had to pass by the year in the most honourable and respectful way.
After 9, 10 months of my service my opinion about “nonni” didn’t change: the second categories was the one with better men.

Newbies are the future life of the TW community:
it is silly to have behaviours that can remove them from battlefields.

You can always put a password on game if you wanna play with selected people.

A not very respectful behaviour is when someone host games like “Jaguars against Tapirs” or something like that. All jaguars on one side and all tapirs on the other is of no enjoining and honour for jaguars and it is frustrating for tapirs.

Another one is blaming someone for errors and so on. Better talk and communicate during and after more to learn for every one.

I know that newbies can ruin the game.
But they really ruin the games if one side has more newbies than the other.
Probably in games with “balanced” side of newbies the veteran that best can lead newbies wins. And this is a great challenge for veterans that instead of improving their quickness on keyboard want to improve their leadership and tutorship qualities.
This could be really another type of competition alternative to totally clan wars and competitions:
2 clan m8s and 2 newbies against 2 clan m8s and 2 newbies, ... or 1 veteran and 3 newbies against 1 veteran and 3 newbies, and so on.

In the end more the newbies are the more money Activision will spend for MP part of this wonderful game.

I agree with everything you have said Marcus, and I will copy your post and start a thread in the Jousting Fields MP section.

    Agree all the way Marcus.

I've never had a problem with anyone myself playing MP, but I have seen some posts on the forums that run newbies like myself down. They can't do any good for the Medieval community, and I say boo to those who post like this.

Hmmm, I have not had this problem so far during my budding STW MP career. Actually, players have really been quite supportive of a nub like me.

I guess the difference may be that STW has such a narrow following at this point that they are eager for anyone to show some interest and play. Whereas MTW is probably very well patronized, so some people become shortsighted and don't want to make the effort to integrate new generations of players into the game.

But once RTW comes out I'm sure MTW will feel the pinch too, and have to be more inclusive to keep a strong MP community going.

In the mean time, good luck. I'm sure there are as many welcoming players out there as there are here in the forums.
