    Thumbs up

A while back I asked if changing the order of reinforcements would affect an autocalc battle. Nobody knew for sure but the general consensus was no. Well, I had a chance to find out and the answer is a definite Yes.

    Early / Hard / Conquest / Turks / Approx. 40 Units

My 2834 Turks being attacked by 2236 Frenchies with superior units in Algeria. It was getting late so I went with the autocalc and lost..Say what? I had done a quick save so I went back to look at it and do it myself.

    Win Dead Dead Notes
    Loss Turks Frenchies
    L 1886 1534 Original Battle
    L 1886 1534 Just to make sure
    L 1886 1534 Confirming
W 1499 1796 Put weakest units at end.
L 1886 1534 Back to original, just checking.
    W 1537 1796 More archers in front
    W (K) 1686 1796 Different set-ups
    W 1615 1796
W 1739 1796 Want to get back to 1499 dead.
    W 1604 1796
    W (K) 1523 1796 I'll settle for this one.
    (K) Captured the French Dog King, 13K ransom.

As you can see, The biggest difference was in the number of dead Turks but what was surprising was the number of dead Frenchies. Either 1534 or 1796, no in betweens. Comments?

autocalc results don't change much for me

it seems to deteriorate though as you reload more often.

the casualties usually increase by something like 5-10% for me each time I reload.

I didn't check setup, just hit the autocalc button.

note: this is in case of wanting good results for naval combat and not losing ridiculous amounts for no reason.

Interesting results. I've noticed that if you quit out of MTW completely and then reload it again, different results occur for many events. Quick loading seems to pre-cache the new year's events but a full reload seems to clear the cache.

so quick save retains the seed while full save doesn't?

    interesting.

how does this compare to assasin results for example?

Yeah, that has been my observation. It works with assassination attempts too from what I recall but I don't use them that much. A full reload also alters vices/virtues gained next turn, new heir stats, king deaths, rebellions, pretty much most events.

I don't do it often myself but only sometimes when something particular happens which annoys me or I decide to try a different direction on where I want to take my chosen faction.
