No sure if you have seen what game was chosen the best strategy game on Gamespot but The Sims 2 won. I'm not sure but isn't sims a SIMulation game? Gamespy and IGN chose RTW as the best strategy game.

The simulation game that won was Silent Hunter III, why the hell doesn't the best simulation game win that category. This is depressing for Rome Total War game fans. As many others have said this is the best strategy game of all times, revolution in strategy games.

Gamespot is kind of strange sometimes, yea. I hope they don't misspell any names of the R:TW units.

Sometimes these guys post stuff like this *because* it would be controversial... y'know, get people talking about their site. Gaming-Age did it with a terrible review of Ninja Gaiden recently. Nobody that was at E3 honestly believes that The Sims is a better game than Rome: Totak War. Much less in the same genre.

Exactly it's not even in the same gener of games. What do you strategies? Where to put the sofa or TV? This is just wrong and sad to see that. As a die hard fan of Total War I think i'll have to seek some therapy after this. RTW even was in 4th place and The Sims 2 in 5th. I think two of them were having some when they wrote that

I'm completely mystified by the popularity of the Sims. I have a real life already.

Still, the Gamespot folks have seen the games. I haven't. From Gamespot's description, you do have goals. You have to gather resources, build a base, etc.

"Capitalism II" is a strategy game. So is the Sims, I guess.

    Still, this is just weird.

It's about marketing. You could sell a kid who hates school and hates learning a game that is about him making a character and study and go to tests and do well at school.

The Sims? bah The game with endless expansions and add-ins returns to drain the pockets of some poor souls who would rather simulate life than actually live it...

And then there's RTW, quite frankly the most awesome war fighting strategy game to hit the shelves, well ever really

Give me my Scoped Rifle... We go hunting at the Gamespot Offices
