I read the Beginners Guide - it said something about assigning your proivinces Governers with a decent amount of Accumen (the Pen quills in the profile). I didn't really pay that much heed and just assigned the Provinces to anyone. That was in my old English campaign. I made lots of mistakes in that game and that was one of the biggest (besides not building a navy). I really didn't have any money and was struggling to build much of anything after a while. It's amazing what a good governer can do for your Provinces In my present, Byz campaign I'm having a hard time just spending the money I make Granted that the areas are more productive but I would never have expanded this fast if I had not paid attention to the Governer/Accumen deal.

Just thought I'd try to help out and stress how important in the long term that it will be to assign them correctly (I try to keep all my provinces governed by Governers with 3 or more accumen). It's actually worth it to wait a couple turns to get new units and check them to see if they are worthy.

    Hi,

not sure if you're a Newb, but I certainly am. You are spot on about decent guvernors etc. I was never too hot on the old economy side, and many of my early games ended in horrible financial defeat, I was decent enough on the battlefield, but if you've no money to raise armies, then it's a mute point.

I really concentrate on getting my trade started, and a few farm upgrades to decent provinces, as well as silver mines etc. Once you lay a good economic base, you're off to a good start, and your game is likely to get past the year 1200, unlike most of my early efforts

There was a smart quote knocking about: unlimited money, the sinews of war. How true.

    cheers

And let's not foget my favourite function in MTW, auto tax. This little puppy has saved me hours of fiddling with the taxes to try to maximize income and minimize rebellions.

May your first child be a masculine child.
