I had some kind of bug in a 2.01 save game: when I open it, I'm the rebels in 1087 and "Sahara" is an active province where I can build. I haven't played it yet but what wanted to know if it is "unlockable" normally. Does Sahara connect to any other provinces?
Probably I'll get a CTD...
It is a real province in some mods but I don't know what it's lacking in the normal game.

There are no borders defined in the normal game. I think it is possible to build and train troops in sahara, but you can't move them out. Not by land and not by sea.
the movement is the main problem.
most of the time, invasion of or reinforcement from Sahara would lead to a CTD.
I think BKB's super mod allows Sahara to be unlocked successfully and makes it crucial to North Africa.
You have to specify links between Sahara and every province (land prov or sea area) you want it to link to. Otherwise, nothing can move in or out.
This is true of every prov BTW.
it is. I think there's special issues with Sahara though as often it CTDs when you invade to or from it.
