If you attack with a huge amount of troops and you send one army home/it gets destroyed, will you get reinforcements (you as attacker )?
I dont think so... but this is very unrealistic imo...

Could you please explain this a little?

I have once received a message saying that reinforcements were arriving. It didn't even say which side was being reinforced. If you have 17 units in a contested province, will the 17th unit be the reinforcements if one of the 16 units on the field leaves the field? What is that bug you're referring to? Does this work differently for attackers and defenders?

I'm currently trying to wrap up my first campaign but my enemies tend to have a little under 2000 troops in each province, so I need to know whether I'll only be facing 16*60 of them if I attack. What happens to the rest of them?

If you can march onto the battlefield and beat the first set of troops they throw at you, you can usually win the whole battle in that blow. If you took a bit of a while and/or are a bit torn up at this point, you may be in danger from reinforcements. But TBH they've never given me much problem.. whenever I get to facing off against huge numbers of enemy, I just take the 16 best units I can muster and attack.. a bit of an advantage in troop quality (and a large advantage in skill over the AI) tends to do the trick quite nicely.
