Thread: Transporting units via boat??

I'm playing my first campaign and I'm the Scots and I'm trying to move an army from one province to another by way of the ocean. I'm not sure if I have to 'actually' construct boats to do this or just the fact that I have ports in both provinces will allow me to just 'move' the army there.

    Can someone enlighten me?

    thanks

    Welcome Adamdc

You need a port in the province your troops are moving from and an unbroken line of ships to the province you are moving to. If you are at war with anyone their ships can blockade you stopping you from transporting.

    Hope this helps

You need a port and a keep to be able to build a shipyard in the medieval map.

In the viking map you need a fortified village and a port to build a boat builder IIRC.

I think you may need a Port, Keep (Fort upgrade) and Shipwright.

Apologies for delay been out for 4 hours

    Welcome to the Org Adam

Once you have built a few ships, try hitting the V key - this will show you which sea regions are open (green) and which are blocked (red) by enemies.

Also remember that you can attack an enemy province even if it doesn't have a port. Many times when you invade a province the port is destroyed and if there is no port then your army could get trapped there.

Hello Adamdc. Hope you find comfort in knowing I'm an expert on silly, so ask away. Eh, and if you have any game questions, the others can handle that.

    Hi Adamdc.

And to follow on from ichi's last post, since the port in the province you invade almost always gets destroyed, strading your army for 4 years or more - don't invade with your king He'll be cut off from the empire, and loyalty will go through the floor

also, you can invade as long as even a tiny strip of land is attached to a sea zone with a ship in it.

thus, it woudl be possibel to invade tripoli form nile coast etc.
