Introduction
There are many online guides about playing Total War in Multiplayer. There are many more unfinished guides about playing Total War in Multiplayer.
For online players, it becomes quickly obvious that the learning curve is difficult. The purpose of all the guides is to shorten the time required to learn the game. The fact that there are so many unfinished guides around is a tribute to how difficult and rich a subject Medieval Total War online is.
It's such a rich subject, and such a subjective one, that I expect many more experienced and skilled players to disagree with the advices you'll find in the current guide.
Please keep it civil
I'd also like to thanks my two muses for this guide.
Thanks to frogbeastegg. This guide started a long time ago when Lady Frog expressed some interest in playing some online games, and when I have tried to give her some tips to make the transition from SP to MP easier. Many parts of the current guide are directly copied from our exchange back then. She also provided very valuable advices about the content of the guide, not to mention a lot of groundwork and proofreading.
I know I would not have done it, if it were not for you.
Also thanks to LadyAnn. There is two aspects to LadyAnn contribution. She provides the basic support and forum to write the guide, hosting it in its infancy. She also provided and compiled additional data which helped making many aspects of the game clearer (at least to me).
More importantly, her kindness and dedication to the cause of helping beginners online was a constant inspiration for me. If you are starting online, there is one thing you can do that can't go wrong, and that's asking advice to [FF]Anniep, a.k.a. LadyAnn
Thanks Annie
If you think this guide is worthy enough to be hosted somewhere else, if you want to host it or use it, just let me know. As long as you pay tribute to the above mentioned muses (poems, drawings or songs... as you wish), don't claim it's your work and don't seek to make profit out of it, it'll be fine by me.
Welcome to Medieval Total War online, I hope I'll meet you there soon. It's a fun and challenging game, I hope you'll enjoy it
Good luck, and have fun
