oh and by "looks nice" i meant "looks.. 'meh'.."
well, the campaign map looks awesome, imo.. but there are still flaming arrows and, to me, the barbarian battle looked kinda lame, i'm sure how to qualify it exactly, but i definitely had a bad taste in my mouth after watching that battle (it's probably old engine anyway). i thought the siege was better looking though.. and the scale of the city was cool![]()
What a video God some of the Gallic units look good. The catapults cause havoc in the enemy ranks Whe the Romans are attacking that Armenian city and roman catapults take down there own laddermen is ace.
The game looks fantastic, and thats all there is to say![]()
Eh where did the link go?

I just tracked down that vid from the mysterious recesses of the internet...
Looks great I have to say.
The new siege weapons look great, as do the little close up shots on key events such as creating a breach or killing a general.

Well since it's ripped TWC have no right to say you can't remote link to it...Originally Posted by [b

i just linked to the thread @ TWC, not the video anyway.. maybe putting the video on the net in the first place is of questionable legailty though, i dunno.

Wow![]()
That video is absolutely amazing.
It shows seiges better than anywthing I've seen yet.
Just in case some of you don't know (like me) To get the video go to the downloads section and not the thread that is talking about the video. I wasted about 10 minutes or so just reading that thread till someone in the thread said that they will upload it to the download area.
It's not the exclusivity issue, which is simply TWC throwing a hissy fit, and can't really be valid for ripped vids. it's the fact it's ripped at all. Links to pirated stuff will be removed.

thx for the info catiline
EDIT: @ Basileus down below.. you're right, it was just a link to the thread.. but i imagine most members here visit that site anyway, so this probably isn't such an important thread to begin with
He only linked to a thread in TWC not the file though if im not mistaken.Originally Posted by [b

Lil' Timmy thats clearly the up-to-date E3 2004 engine.
It looked great to me.
Whats 'Meh' about it?
maybe those guys should be doing something more useful...
well, i liked the video, on the whole.. i especially liked the look of the campaign map, and the sieging sequence.Originally Posted by [b
but, imo, the flaming arrows and subsequent combustion of the gauls was pretty lame. the physics of the explosive-fireball catapult projectiles seemed very odd.. is this how real catapults of the period worked? those two aspects left me tepid about that first battle we saw.. so that's really what i was 'meh' about. the rest of the video was good. that's my take.
It's already been stated that Flaming Arrows are an option. As for the catapults, I don't mind them at all. You can really see how the engine has improved. The Teusedo looks AWSOME. The indiviual movement has done wonders for the game, everything looks so real now.
chacun a son gout. i was responding to a direct question specifically about the video (no need for thetiger).
A technical defence really, but I'm applying the spiirt of the rules as well as just the letterOriginally Posted by [b

Thats Fair enough.
At any rate nothing wrong with visiting another part of the established TW community, I am sure many of us know where TWC are without the need of a link.

Very interesting movie - restores my faith in the game (which was a little battered by the flaming pigs and the Egyptians). The gameplay seemed very like the established TW stuff (which is already brilliant) - e.g. heavy infantry hold the centre, cavalry go round the flanks etc. But the sieges are dramatically improved, with a nice variety of means of gaining entry shown and that cool tortoise formation. The "arrows from nowhere" aspect of castle defences seems to have gone and the demonstration of the importance of making multiple breaches was nice. I am a little sceptical of the flaming catapults and arrows (battles start to resemble Apocalypse Now), and the Roman gladius still doesn't look right to me (the blade looks too short and diamond shaped), but generally the game looks superb.
