9600xt with 768ram
in order to play rome?
I'm deciding now weather to upgrade what part.

512Mb works fine. Anything above that would be a luxury, although depending on what else you do with your PC, RAM represents the single best investment for a speed increase. Windows - in whatever flavour - really benefits from extra physical memory.

Hmm.. would a GeForce 4 MX crap-card need an upgrade for the game to run it smoothly at top detail?
