Well, that prett much says it all.

Is there a way to change the amount of money you get at the start? I would like to start with bigger units and a harder setting, but I would like to start with about 20K.

(Yes, I know I should earn it, but I have so little free time. I just want to get right into the fun stuff, and build and fight. And the .deadringer. cheat that gives tyou a milion dollars just takes the fun out of altogether. 20K would be enough.)

    enjoy the game

while you're at, be sure to enter every cheat code and feel free to edit more of the game code so that your gaming experience is as challenging as it can be.

    Oh phhhht....

Ma man, I've got a woman, two kids, bills, and I manage a tree service company. Although I have the time to post in these enjoyable threads, I don't have the free time to play a 100 hour campaign. I want to be able to have fun quickly.

And if you find my level of gaming enjoyment to be offensive to you..., then I offer my deepest and most heartfelt apologies.

heh don't sweat it - some purists just seem to want to impose their views on us all.

Lots of gamers like to edit the gamefiles for their enjoyment. I usually fiddle with what units I get, and sometimes with what resources are available. On the other hand I often "forbid" myself to start wars agains allies or countries smaller than me, but that's just me.

You can also change the income of your provinces in the same file if you're looking for a more permanent cash-boost.

    Thanks. Good idea.

Seriously though, I just don't have the time to play the game it is meant to be played. I guess there are "some people" who would say that I am morally forced to sell the game if I canot play it to their "ass glued to my chair -video game intellectual" standards.

    That's an idea

Solypsyst, if you send me $50, what I paid for the game, I wil stop playing M:TW and you will be saved from further moral frustration and cognitive dislocation.

Only fifty dollars. A cheap price to attain peace of mind.

ahem - don't mock the man with the best thread on the .org

Every guy here knows what thread I'm talking about.

Seriously the issue about cheating comes up from time to time. I say that I paid for the game and I'll use it anyway I choose.

Strangely some of the adamant non-cheaters have no problems exploiting the game engine (like causing revolts every year) since that is "a part of the game". Well for me building huscarles in late is part of the game - so there.

    Amen to that

Back to topic, i feel that if you parted with your hard earned cash then you are free to edit, cheat, play the game however you find most enjoyable

Although if you want more cash without adjusting the startpos files play as the italians, its nearly impossible not to make cash with those little green dudes

Now, now, I enjoy the master's thread as much as the next man.

But he mucked before I mocked, so all is fair in threads and war.

sorta off topic, but I am not familiar with this greatest Org thread ever. Where can I find it?

On money, it may be that England is just an easier faction, but on Early Expert, even after giving Aquitaine, Anjou, and Normandy to the French, I still don't have money problems.

Granted, I only have to defend Wessex, but when I build the first two farm upgrades before anything else, jack the tax rates all the way up, and assign Accumen 4 peasants as governors, I'm usually set for a good while. About midway through Early my merchant marine is raking in the dough.

I know this plan works much better with England than with, say, Germany, but I bet if you spend the first 6 years buliding up your economic base it will carry you through for a while.

So where is this greatest Org thread ever?

Damn, soly is so cool, if extraterrestrials were to land, he would just open one eye, mutter a lazy “Did they bring back Elvis?” and would roll over and fall back to sleep. He has a thicker skin then a dozen R:TW raving elephants You got to love that fella

Beirut, there is a cheat for big cash, don’t remember it though and its on my old computer, but someone definitely knows it, perhaps that would be more simple then editing starting cash if you want to plunge into action right away?

I tried the .deadringer. cheat, but that just blows away any sense of challenge. 1,000,000 florins is pretty much a "God mode" cheat. Takes away all the fun.

But starting off with 15,000 to 25,000 florins, especially if you are using large units, still has plenty of challenge to it. It just lets you add some extra armour and weapons stats to your boys before you send them out. I like to have a few units of Chivalric Nights with top armour and use them to back up my archers. Great fun.

I also use the .worksundays. cheat to get things built in one year. I know, I know, I'm missing out on the basic idea of the game and cheating myself out of the real deal, but like I said, it's all a matter of time. Mostly, I have none.

So if a cheat a bit and get to have a fast three or four hour game (that keeps me up until 2am) well, it's better than not playing at all. If I need a true to life, hardcore experience... I'll go to work. At midnight, with a beer, sitting in the dark in the living room, I just want to have is some colourful, distracting fun.

fine. I like it the good old fashioned way and the only cheat I ever used was .unfreeze. when my king is getting old and without an heir as well as -ian for switching to another faction to play such as golden horde or papacy
