    I)how many Germans comprised the 3rd Reich?(as well as his secret police?)

    About 80m Germans lived in the 3rd Reich in 1939. I don't know how many were in Hitler's secret police - probably not many (unlike the Stasi). At least according to what a google search threw up:

    I think in the British army, say around WW1, a batman was a soldier who helped out an officer with his domestic duties, cleaning etc - kind of like a valet or servant.

    It's a shortened form of the German words meaning National Socialist.
