So right now i've been playing Napoleonic, and also a lot of Hellenic total War.If you havent tried them, do so because they are really good. Bkb's Mod is also very good. I also have been playing Shogun mod for Medieval total war.

since I've only got MTW fairly recently and I am rather poor in terms of free time, I haven't yet played SP with everything I would be interested in; I intend to play with a few more factions, in a few more ages. Not much time left till RTW, though, so I'll stick with this until Rome comes out. I know I'll come back to it anyway ;)

Added some very simple and basic mods to my MTW install (naming, some units and buildings).
Even though I'd like to put my hands on some very nice mods later on, I will still be busy playing regular MTW as I only played Turks and Byz in SP (now playing Almos) and a few catholic faction in PBM.
(So I don't think I will be rushing for RTW in autumn )

Currently playing Medmod 3.14, and marvelling at its brilliance

Plain old VI. I still haven't gotten bored of it.

I tried some mods, notably NTW and Medmod, but didn't like them (or, in the case of NTW, it didn't work and kept giving me loads of CTDs). And since those are the ones people seem to rave about the most, I don't bear much hope for the other mods out there.

Never tried any mods but thinking of trying the shogun mod for MTW as I didn't play shogun at any point

Have dabbled with NTW a bit, but now sticking with unmodded MP. I'm not even gonna bother trying to get into anything else now as RTW is due out soon. Until, of course, the Silmarillion Total War mod comes out.

Silmarillion Total War? Is that being made or just wishful thinking? I'd love to see that if CA never acquire the license

Avarin has made some amazing units and the team has made real progress. It's shaping up to be a great mod.

Just recently rediscovered that warm fuzzy feeling you get when you terrorize the British coast with your hoards viking warriors, lol. I hadn't played it in a while but now I can't stop.

    Cheers for the links Monk

As a stout Tolkien fan I'm very interested, the mod looks to have a lot of potential

When you post in your poll, modded VI,
Do you mean M:TW with VI expansion installed and then modded (e.g BKB's mod). Or do you mean a modified version of a VI campaign. I voted thinking you meant my first option.

    I started playing expert/early/turks....
Took me almost two months until I conquered the last provinces... 100%... When I had reached 60% I clicked no, and instantly half of empire revolted due to sultan having some madman v&v... After all that hard work that was something that made me furious... After a weeks holiday I sent my sultan alone charging the rebels, which fixed most of the problem. Reconquering wasn't after all that hard, my fully upgraded saracen infantry/ottoman infantry/heavy janissary infantry/ armenian heavy cavalry armies were very succesful against the rebels.
I had 300000 florins and I had retaken my 60%. Also, I was pushin new troops as if it was the end of world, and soon I was spending 50000 florins per turn for upkeep. I ruled the mediterranean and my fleets were advancing towards british isles. I sent my south western armies against spain from south, to occupy it and hit france within 5 years. I made landings on southern france to tie their forces. I landed my would-be centre armies into southern italy, to occupy it within 3 turns and to strike germany (occupied by french). I owned russia, byzantines and all arab provinces. From Constantinople, my new capital, I sent my elite armies through the balkans to take germany and advance towards france. My eastern armies, after finishing the golden horde invasion, stood in Russia without anything to do. These forces were to advance directly westwards, take Poland, secure north Germany and advance into Denmark, Sweden and Norway.
First 10 years went as planned, I took Spain, south France, Italy, Poland, Balkans, and Germany. Then my troops froze. 10 years of pure advance, many provinces were still having strong enemy forts in them, and rest requiring bulk of my forces to keep them content. My money was gone, and my balance was still 10000 negative, despite losses. I decided I will strengthen my new territory by taking the castles and halting until I can build sufficient mosques to calm down the provinces and get more troops to front. However, I was forced to disband infantry worth of 8000 florin upkeep, even after assaulting all castles left in my territory.
Surprisingly, during the 15 years I sat back there was only one almohad rebellion, and I was able to get mosques near the front and gather up strength. Now my fleets reached Denmark, without any challenge. France had been in civil war after my rapid advance. My troops launched another massive simultaneus attack on northern France and Scandinavia through Denmark. The rest of advance was quite easy, I advanced all the way to Scotland and Norway. Also took Ireland.
Last two provinces were Malta and Norway. My Sultan sat in the capital Istanbul, with 15 units of fully upgraded HJI.

After that I didn't ever again play the game through. I did a lot of playing, but in my opinion, it was all the same, the same thing I had done already. And what I had done was so very hard that I didn't want to do it again.
    For Home, Religion and Fatherland.

First post here, Hi -- I've picked up MTW with the VI expansion only recently, and I'm still in the woah, woah phase of trying out everything. I meant to buy the game a couple of years ago already, but something else always seemed to get in the way. Of course, I regret that now. :) Not being overly experienced in RTS'ish war games, I struggle a bit with the learning curve, but so far I'm having a blast.
