What exactly is the great advantage of the huscarls. What are their stats. What are they characteristic with? Where can teh be produced? Only in Scandinavia. What type of building they require and/or patch maybe. I have heard taht the are really good against mots of the unit types and are cheap. Are they an infantry or cavalry? Maybe the last question is really very annoying but a have not meet this unit type in the game and I am curious.

    Hi SlyConquerer

If you are playing MTW: VI 2.01 Viking Huscarles are axemen with armour piercing only available in Early. They have very good all round stats for an early unit and are high morale.

Early period, all factions, VI needed. Basically they're the same as Varangian Guards with one point less defense.
Obsequious and arrogant, clandestine and vain
Two thousand years of misery, of torture in my name
Hypocrisy made paramount, paranoia the law
My name is called religion, sadistic, sacred whore

    From FBE's guide:

    (Viking) Huscarles
    Charge 4 Attack 4 Defence 4 Armour 3 Speed 6, 10, 11 Morale 6 Cost 425 Support cost 75

Availability: Viking campaign and medieval campaign.

(Viking) Huscarles are armour piercing, elite and in possession of a large shield and bad attitude This unit is one of the best availably in the Viking campaign, in fact the only unit better than the huscarles is the Joms Vikings and maybe the berserkers. This unit is truly a case of wind them up and let them go – they kill anything wearing armour quickly, they have good enough attack stats to kill unarmoured targets quickly and their defence just plain rocks for Viking era infantry. They are allergic to armour piercing attacks though, so watch out for crossbows, javelins and axemen of all sorts. Because huscarles use a two-handed axe the shield is not used in melee, it protects from ranged attacks only.

From MTW info pack by Bushface and FBE:

Requirements for huscarles: swordsmith + armourer
Keeping the ashigarus in line since 1575

To move to VI version you need to buy a Viking Invasion Expansion pack. Very simple .....not for me though

yep. only 1 turn and 425 florins.

that's why even as Byz, I conquer Scandanavia and build them instead of V guards
