Flaming historical nitpickers!!!!

I think I have found these units to be fading away, wich just makes this forum much more enjoyable.

Well anyways I dreaded looking in this forum because if I made a comment on what my HIGH SCHOOL TEXTBOOKS TAUGHT ME (or what was aired on the history channel), I risked getting flamed. Well anyways I threw in my 2 cents(from what my congressman wanted me to know, or whoever wrote those textbooks) and had to run to the local precinct hoping they will stop me from getting burned at the stake. Now I have to dismiss the mature patrons(wether they are graduating diaper school or filing for social security retirement).

The point is if its an oppinion(you ca'nt flame them for that) but if its fact just tell them and the light will shine upon them(usually).

If you just tell them point blank (in the forums) without insulting them, they will still be able to show there face in public(then in secrecy burn all high school text books) and yet have no problem coming back to tell there wisdom(or there misinformed wisdom).

And do'nt forget the when you just want to say they are really off, believe me it kills the surface tention

Otherwise its just arm yourself and prepare yourself for the flamewar that is about to begin

It comes down to the nitpickers that found the votes on the .com site(is that right) just rediculous. Pleas vote for the legionaires and completely dismiss the pitchfork phalanx( I love the sound of that unit.... peasants in revolt and a unit that is completely worthless... at least in offense). Well if I get flamed from these historical nitpickers...... whose side do you think I'm going to take. Well when it came down to the vote I did'nt give a .......................( busy using my toilet paper) get the idea.

If you want to express your feelings and knowledge do it in the most sensible way you can, otherwise you are just starting another (total)war.

Now if I was told wrong in a nice way everytime I posted and I saw someone say vote for the legionaires, I would follow. Otherwises it just amounts to I do'nt care what you say your just a complete donkeyhole. Where does this amount to. Well I have seen some say they just completely get flamed when they make a statement on the .com....... ignore those illegitamate children(bastards)...... It is so funny I'm old enough that when someone starts feces right in front of me............... you just stand there... What does that bastard do ...... ummmmm ummmmmm ummmmm ................ nothing like standing there letting them know that there words had ill effect on you( by doing nothing) just stand there and watch them walk away in disgust, Ufortanetely it is hard to show you are ignoring someone in the forums.

Well anywaysif you want to support accuracy fire the the arrows with field tips..... they do'nt hurt..... but if you fire the hunting arrows or the flaming arrows....... do'nt expect much in return .......... it will just show revolt.

An easy way to get past the .commers is post once and never look back.

I remember working with someone who was majoring in Physcoligy...... his words if someone scratched his vehicle he would'nt do a thing..... if they could'nt confront him why bother with them.

The fact is why bother with someone who does'nt care what you say. If you reply back you are just fueling there flame(war). Just say what you have to say and ignore them....... nothing like them realising they ran out of money to refuel there flamehogs.

Me being the middleguy (have to laughingly admit) have to laugh when you guys come back here and say you got flamed at the .com.

oaty, if you'd get your head out of those worthless high school text books you mentioned and read some real books, you'd know that the correct term for "flaming boulders" is enormii igniae which is Latin for "huge lava rocks". ~:p *

Seriously, I'm not sure I followed all your post. Is your gripe/advise targeted at actions over at .com or here or both? Regardless, you have an excellent point. If someone is mis-informed, you have an excellent opportunity to educate them. However, if you put them down in the process of educating them, you've lost the educational potential as they will only see the insult and not the lesson. I've seen that happen once or twice in the past couple of years.

BTW, by "nitpickers" do you mean "those who prefer historical accuracy"? Your post actually violates your own advice, doesn't it?

Whereas flammeus silicis, would be more like a (flammeus) fire or flame in a rock or stone.(silicis).

Igneus, or modern English to ignite. it's where the word comes from. Translate roughly to "firey, Ardent, burning".

Silicis, Modern Silician or silica. Meaning a Rock, hard or Sharp stone.

And it is genitive 2nd, If i remember correctly????
Therefore silicis igneus. or a Rock that Burns. The emphisis is on the Burning, or the flames, as the rock is normative.
So we have the rock, Silicis Burning or on fire,
Silicis igneus.
