Coz the Samurai() are way cooler than those militia sergeant types. And just think of the korean guard And battlefield ninja's and The Mighty Kensai, The Masters Of The Way Of The Sword.
If I was japanese warlord I'd build rifles and machineguns and howitzers and I'd teach them the lesson obviously visible in the last charge of the movie Last Samurai()
Samurai() are just so cool. Too bad the game has poor AI and bugs and is in some aspects almost primitive... Even despite the Samurai()...

I've never played it. I skipped it and jumped straight into Medieval.

Yeah, STW > MTW.
MTW has all the nice fancy units, but it loses out to STW in terms of music and atmosphere.
I can remember the layouts of the battlefields of STW, all the provinces but I can never recall all the maps of MTW. They just keep changing and doesnt evoke any nostalgia.

Yea, that was cool, every time you'd have a fight in, say, Awari, you'd know the map, if you were experienced. You could also recall some past battles there, and know some good maneuvers for you Samurai().
