As the opposite of the ineffective unit thread... here is to start a list of units that are a bit (or a lot) too effective for their price and accessability etc....

1.Armenian heavy cav: possibily the most blantant obvious case.... these dudes are quiet cheap while packing a huge punch and even worse can be accessed in the fort level.. and since u can upgrade to master horsebreeder with only a fort combined with the armenian bonus... they are basically 40% priced chivaric knights that can be acquired almost at the start of the game

2.Vikings: armor piercing men at arms that can be built with only a fort.... if ur the danes they are even cheaper than man at arms while with the valor bonus for norway they are acturally more effective than CMAA in almost all situations while costing half the price .

3.Almohad urban milita: again... man at arms that comes very early... the once from granada are better than CMAA... though imho stats wise they aren't THAT overpowered but combined with the almo's early infracstructure advantage and unit mix... a better men at arms for a muslim army in early is thx...

4.Jannisary heavy infantry: well... yes they are hard to access and certianly don't come cheap.... but they are pretty much a living lawn mower.... they demolish ANYTHING that cross their path with the combination of anti armor AND anti cav bonus... they litterally eat kings and knights for breakfast ... they are about as perfect as a infantry unit can be....

5.Bedoiuns: i know many will disagree with this one... but for their price they are definately the most cost effective anti cav unit in the whole game... NO horse unit will beat them in the desert equal valor wise (without considering moral)... and most of those horse unit easily cost 6-7 times as much espically when it comes to the eggies (cheaper than urban milita is thx)... and again for their price and accessability they acturally fare quiet well against anything that doesn't have a anti cav bonus... all that comes with a simple fort...

6.arbalest: i think this unit really ruins a lot faction uniqueness..... as basically every faction except the turk/mongols/english will have to rely heavily on these guys as soon as high era comes around.... super high range with huge armor piercing power and comes quiet cheap and more importantly can keep firing for a really long time compare to normal archers...

7.byz infantry: i'm not sure why... stats wise they should be inferior to FMAA... but they prove much more deadly most of the time (probably due to unit size).. if it weren't for the fact that the byz lack a decent anti cav .... probably not very op though...

    1. Never noticed, I never found them that great...

    2. no comment

    3. Agree, but then again, they needed something to give a little bonus in the beginning, seeing as how the Spaniards are right there with Jinets.

    4. They are my fav unit, and I think they are fair seeing as how they are only late, and require like 100 years of production with the fortress, military academy, and the grand mosque. And you can only have one province building them unless you use the exploit of destroying the grand mosque and building it somewhere else.

    5. Used them a lot, never really liked them. They are slow and weak, and utterly useless out of the desert.

    6. I think they are a little too powerful, especially for the factions who cant make them.

    7. I have run some tests, 1 on 1 against fmaa and cmaa, and IIRC they were pretty much equal to fuedals and got schooled by chivs. Their only advantage is the extra men, which has no effect in combat effectiveness, but it lets them cover more area. I was never able to get them to wrap around the smaller units, like some have said works wonders.

    new one:

Katanks, early on they are too powerful, especially the royalty that is born at 9 stars and 8 valour. But, then again, by Byz are completely screwed over in high and late.

Yeah I agree with those insane Byzantine Katanks heirs, they can sometimes defeat entire armies single handedly. Armenian heavy cavalry are very good too (from Armenia), I dont really play Muslim factions much though. Another one - Druzhina cavalry in early dismounting into a 60 man unit of Feudal foot knights. And Swiss armoured pikemen.

You forget about Russian Spearmen: basically they are chivalric sergeants. They have 1 less defense, 1 extra attack and 2 extra morale, but they can be trained in early (and only in early) with a spearmaker, so when you make novgorod a playable faction, you know what unit to train.
