Hey guys, I was trying to use some of the units in hellenic total war in a mod im making for myself. I was able to get all the BIF's to work fine like for the review panel and unit icons, but when it came to the actual units on the battlefield, well, they were glitchy and were showing units from the original game and not the ones from hellenic. Any body know how to adapt units from another mod to their own?

Not really sure what your doing, and I do confess I'm no expert on modding, but if you want to make your life alot easier, I got 2 words for you: Gnome Editor.

Well, I know how to copy and paste files from the original game and tweak these files with G-Nome, as I have already created 20 or so fully functioning units. But, as i said, these units are all from the original. I'm looking for how to get units from other mods. Thanks for your reply.

    I've,
imported units from HTW without hitch or glitch so its possible. Did you overwrite files in textures/men (e.g MSHELM or whichever) or did you create a new custom folder for the new bif's and lbm's you borrowed from HTW. Also did you change the Textures/men file references in the unit prod files (column 48). There are a few errors that can result in this kind of problem But there easily rectified. I suggest reading the Unit editing guide by Duke John, as everything you'll need to know is in there. I think its in th Alchemists or Repository.

I, probably like most borrowed the Elephants.
There are 13 or 15 files you'll need to edit or move, depending on weather the unit uses both weapon and shield.
    1. Unit_prod
    2. loc\startpos\Names
    3. loc\startpos\Descriptions :- will all need editing. i.e the appropriate HTW lines need to be cut pasted (and edited in the case of the Unit_prod lines)
    4. Campmap\info_pics and
    5. Campmap\Review panel :- Will both need the new\moved HTW Bifs
    6. Battle\uniticons will need the new HTW, LBM's
    7. Texture\Men\Action page Will need the relevant file importing from HTW
8.\9. Texture\Men\Items\Weapons and Texture\Men\Items\shileds:- Will both need the relevant files importing from HTW
    10. Texture\Men\ will either need a custom file* creating in it(or if you've already used all your custom files due to modding you can overwrite the contents of a file eg MSHELM. However this is more usefull if your overwritting the original game entirely)
    * Custom files are just folders and can be numbered 0-9(To create one, just open a New Folder and rename it custom 0-9).
All you need to do is make sure column 48 in the Unit_prod file lists the appropriate name of this file. and that you've pasted the unit files from the appropriate HTW file into your new custom file. e.g the content of Texture\men\PlateCav in HTW into Custom 3.
Files 11. 12. 13 14 and 15. Are all exported from Texture\men\eg.PlateCav and all go into the new custom folder. They are the 2 Bifs files, the LBM file, a weapon file and if the unit uses one a shield file. I think thats everything I did. You probably know most\all of this but this is what I did. Hope this helps and I haven't missed anything out.
